Ukraine - Russia Conflict

There was a programme on French television about the CAESARs which are mainly used as counter-battery in Ukraine. It seems that 18 of them have been delivered and that they have already destroyed 80 Russian batteries.

Ukraine crisis will soon become a localized European issue as countries will find substitutes of Ukraine for supply chain and other supplies and then it will not affect anyone. All the cry will go down. Russians know it so do the Americans.

They are pretty much the best artillery system unless the Germans have introduced the pzh2000 there.

We are no longer talking about strategic "major offensives" to take Kiev
We are no longer talking about major encirclements Kharkov-Odessa
We are no longer talking about an operational breakthrough Izium-Melitopol
We are no longer talking about penetrating the defensive lines at Pospana
Now it's neighbourhood by neighbourhood, street by street, like in Stalingrad

This is nonsense....

L’Ukraine affirme avoir repris la moitié de la ville de Sievierodonetsk

Ukraine says it has retaken half of Sievierodonetsk

Ukraine said on Sunday that its forces were in control of "half" of Sievierodonetsk. The governor of the Luhansk region, Serhi Haidai, said in an interview broadcast on social networks that "our armed forces have cleared half" of this industrial centre of Russian troops.

Eight Russians were taken prisoner, he also said. He said the Russian military had been ordered to seize the town by 10 June, as well as a communication route linking two nearby towns, Lyssychansk and Bakhmut. "We expect that in the near future [the Russians] will throw all the reserves - in men and equipment - that they now have access to at these two tasks," the governor continued. "In the next five days, there will be a sharp increase in the number of heavy artillery bombardments" by the Russians, Mr Haidai concluded.

On Sunday morning, he said the Russians were losing ground in the key eastern Ukrainian city, which they controlled by 70 percent. On Saturday, the mayor of the city, Oleksandr Striouk, had assured that the Ukrainian military had "managed to redeploy, to build a line of defence", and described "street fighting" in Sievierodonetsk.

In contrast, the Russian defence ministry said yesterday that Ukrainian units "suffering critical losses in the fighting [up to 90% in several units]" were retreating to the nearby major city of Lyssychansk.

According to the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), whose analysis is corroborated by that of the British Ministry of Defence, the dynamic has indeed changed and Ukrainian forces are "successfully slowing down (...) Russian assaults in Sievierodonetsk through careful and effective local counterattacks".

:ROFLMAO: Western estimates say 15,000 Russians troops killed, and 11,000 Ukrainian troops.

Nope, Turkey has stopped only military vessels entering, in line with Montreux Convention.

If the blockade is legal, then the Russians will find some other reason.

Yesterday, Putin said that they will allow exports through Odessa after the port is demined by the Ukrainians. And he also said to ship wheat through Belarus and the Baltic instead, but after sanctions are lifted. So there is room to negotiate, and now it's up to the West to negotiate.

Some other reason for blocking the grain being exported? And hitting a grain storage facility? Like I said, Russia is the bad actor here.

Ukraine can navigate the minefield themselves, they just need the blockade lifting. The minefield is needed to keep Russian scum out.

Yeah, so he's basically using the starvation of MENA as a negotiating tool. Hostage taking 101. Russian/Communist regimes are great at organising famines, even in the 21st century.

Europe are exporting the grain out via Europe anyway. Frozen Russian assets will pay the extra costs since what they're doing is illegal.

PzH2000s have better range, but the CAESAR has better mobility and faster firing. The M1299 will have the best range when it comes out.

The West has upended the international rules-based order, so the Russians are reacting the same way. Both sides are the bad guys.

The cost is the problem for MENA.

No they haven't. Russia has broken the law here not the West, as evidenced by UN votes. When you break the law you get sanctions. Trying to starve MENA nations as a counter to sanctions is all the more reason why you should be sanctioned even more.

Only one side it the bad guy and their friend is the deluded guy.

Kremlin war room footage.

For every deluded fool who still believes there is a point in negotiating with Putin:

So Macky Sall, in his quality as Chairman of the African Union, went to Moscow to appeal to Putin about the risks of famine and to urge him to let the grain flow.

He did not have to wait long for Putin's answer:
