The United States and Ukraine announced on Sunday that they have developed an updated and refined peace framework aimed at ending the nearly four-year-old war with Russia. The revisions follow high-level talks in Geneva and address significant concerns that an earlier version, championed by President Donald Trump, was overly favorable to Moscow.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the high-stakes talks as “very worthwhile,” calling them probably the best the US had held with Ukraine since Trump returned to power.

“I feel very optimistic that we can get something done,” Rubio said.

However, neither the US nor Ukraine shared details about the substance of the talks and the revised plan.

Rubio also played down the Thursday deadline set by Trump for Ukraine to respond to the plan, noting that the priority was to halt the fighting as soon as possible. He added that negotiations could continue on Monday and beyond.

The new development comes just after Trump said that Ukraine had not been grateful for American efforts over the war, prompting Ukrainian President Vlodymir Zelensky to stress their gratitude to the US president for his support.

“This is a very delicate moment,” Rubio said of what still needed to be worked out. “Some of it is semantics, or language. Others require higher-level decisions and consultations. Others, I think, just need more time to work through.”

The details of several key unresolved issues, including how Ukraine’s security against Russia would be guaranteed and the role of Nato, remain unclear at this stage.

A separate White House statement said the revised plan includes strengthened security guarantees and that the Ukrainian delegation indicated the framework “reflects their national interests”. Ukrainian officials did not issue a separate statement.

European officials who participated in the talks proposed a modified version of the original US plan, which pushes back against proposed limits on Kyiv’s armed forces and suggested territorial concessions.

Under the European proposal, Ukraine could maintain a larger military than in the US plan, and negotiations on potential land swaps would start from current frontlines rather than predetermined assumptions about which territories should be Russian.

The 28-point original blueprint drafted by the US had raised alarm in Kyiv and several European capitals. Zelenskyy has warned that his country may soon face a stark choice between upholding its sovereign rights and preserving the critical American support it relies on.

The proposal accommodates several Russian demands that Zelenskyy has repeatedly and categorically rejected, including the ceding of large swathes of territory.

Rubio, after the Geneva talks, said that unresolved questions in the original plan have been narrowed now.

Looks like whatever solution is finalized, biggest loser is Ukraine, Mar 2022 peace agreement at Turkey was much better.

A U.S. official told CBS News on Tuesday that Ukraine's government had "agreed to a peace deal" brokered by the Trump administration to stop Russia's nearly four-year assault. The American official and Ukraine's national security adviser Rustem Umerov said a common understanding on a proposal had been reached, with details still to be worked out.

Umerov voiced optimism that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could travel to the U.S. before the end of November to finalize an agreement. CBS News was first to report on Sunday that U.S. and Ukrainian officials had previously discussed a potential visit to the U.S. this week by Zelenskyy.

"The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace deal," the U.S. official told CBS News. "There are some minor details to be sorted out but they have agreed to a peace deal."

US doesn't want to put any money in this venture any more post 2025, so process of winding up is started, EU alone can't decisively support Ukraine, so once US out it will no longer be sustainable. Poor Ukraine.

Russian FPV drones and a Lancet kamikaze drone strike a Ukrainian 2S22 Bogdana self-propelled howitzer. The video was filmed near the town of Orekhovo in the Zaporizhzhia region. A Lancet drone carried out the first strike on the howitzer, followed by FPV drones. As a result of the attacks, a fire broke out in the Ukrainian Bogdana self-propelled howitzer.

So another north korea/south korea conflict freeze by west, it will be reactivated later when the situation improves.
Even if they sign the peace agreement , doubt the fighting will stop. Russia might stir up locals to kick out the ukranians, ukranian nazis will in turn will start purging russian speakers.

Things are still at proposal stage only, and so many parties are desperately searching for escape route. As per my understanding issue is not Russia/ Ukraine conflict but how to get NATO and Russosphare in balance. Things may cooldown if NATO stops eastward expansion, and Russia doesn't go for further misadventure, then only Moldova/ Transnistria issue will be remain to get sorted out which in time have good possibility with talks.

This is the issue where US and EU are not on same page, while US considers China as it's main adversary, for EU it's still Russia, and US is desperately seeing that due to Russia/ Ukraine conflict it is loosing time and resources which could have been put against China. And EU is still searching solution to mitigate Russian threat permanently.

China is serious threat to US hegemony, for which US is left with limited options on response as US started late on sorting this out, and particularly is paying for not taking concrete action during Barak Obama period. On the other hand EU doesn't have such urgency or necessity against China, and may accept future conditions with some resistance, and can still maintain their position as important power in geostrategic game.

Even Russia would have been comfortable with certain degree of closeness with west, (as issue of outer Manchuria is old issue with Russia and China) and it tried also in 90s and 2000 decades, which didn't gave desired results and it saw fall of Yugoslavia during that time and eastward expansion of NATO. By 2010 Russia had clear understanding of situation and acted accordingly, resulted in Ukraine issue. If I am able to recall correctly, in October 2016, Russia conducted a large-scale, nationwide civil defense drill that involved an estimated 40 million people (30% population aprox.) to test preparedness for a potential nuclear war. I got astonished at that time and wondering for it's purpose, and was able to link it only to US Presidential election and coming of Democrats/ Hillary Clinton in power. But with coming of Trump things went to other direction, else there were good chances of significant change in History. By 2020 world was already dealing with Covid-19 of which so many answers are still under mystery.

Things are still pretty dynamic and have capacity to produce some great surprises.

Ukrainian "Sea Baby" naval drones attacked the tankers "Kairos" and "Virat" in international waters off the coast of Turkey. Technical information about the "Sea Baby" drones is available on the channel. The video shows episodes of the drone attacks. It's worth noting that this is the first time tankers have been hit by naval drones. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet responded to the attack; the hits on the tankers could have resulted in oil pollution on the Turkish coast. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the tankers are believed to be carrying Russian oil. Both tankers were sailing empty under the Gambian flag. The first attack on the tankers occurred on Friday. The tanker Virat was struck approximately 35 nautical miles off the coast of Turkey. Today, November 29, the tanker Virat was attacked again. Both tankers have been damaged, but they are afloat, and the crews are safe.
