Rather than talking in terms of equipment, I think the next 2 to 3 years are crucial for border infrastructure and roads. There was a recent article that gave the status of border roads that were taken up for completion in the next 3 years after decades of laziness. All the major roads along LAC taken up by BRO will be completed by 2022 or 2023. I think its rather more important that you have near instant access to the battlefield than the type of equipment you have. Equipment will keep evolving, but more importantly, its the ability of army to reach the areas all along the indo-china border which will keep turning into flashpoints from now on. Men at the borders backed up by hardened supply routes are are a much greater deterrent than a dozen fancy planes or missiles.
