Koreans (Hyundai and no Kia) are doing it since 2012, so is Suzuki. Honda is a lazy company, they let others capture Market share in developing countries by not offering competitive products
IMO Yamaha lately is bringing good models in Indian Market. They are far ahead than Honda and Suzuki in performance segment.Foreign brand other than Honda diesnt have any kind of foothold in india, I mean to threaten major indian brands
It's a combination of bureaucracy, arrogance & laziness. The Japanese estimate that foreign workers aren't as good as the Japanese workers when it comes to emulating Japanese production techniques. They estimate an average US worker would take somewhere close to 4-5 years of working in a Japanese company after due training & refresher courses to come close to a Japanese worker in terms of quality of workmanship, responsibility, sensibility, etc. You can then imagine how long they think an Indian worker would take to reach their exalted standards.Koreans (Hyundai and no Kia) are doing it since 2012, so is Suzuki. Whats more pathetic is they bring watered down version in our market compared to even ASIAN countries like Indonesia and Thailand which get better specs versions. It's a combination of bureaucracy, arrogance & laziness. That's one of their major guiding philosophies when it comes to exports to prestigious & discerning markets . While a cautious approach is called for & understood the Japanese take it extreme levels. That said Honda is hardly at the cutting edge of car manufacturing or technology either in India or abroad. They're content coming up with iterations of Civic & City, itself 30 year old models, if not older.
Look at how long Suzuki has had a presence in India compared to Honda in terms of car manufacturing.Whats more pathetic is they bring watered down version in our market compared to even ASIAN countries like Indonesia and Thailand which get better specs versions.
BTW suzuki too is Japanese company, but their approach is exactly opposite

which auto? Tuk Tuk ?but they charge more there.
one of my colleagues is a road engineer who showed me the road life/ usage damage data done by an auto compared to a car. I must say I found it convincing enough to toe his line that autos are best for the country. @AbRaj as an engineer I look at data as the leading indicator. It's ok to have lesser consumer specs but maybe it delivers better for us as products.
which auto? Tuk Tuk ?
Next what a Rickshaw vs a Ferrari ??? LOL
No, we need modern and safe personal comute, not some cheap death traps. we have railway tracks for that purpose. It wll be duplication of resources. LOLwho said a ferrari is good for India? the road wear data he showed clearly showed how little Bajaj Autos affect the roads. India is a poor country. We need stuff that lasts.

What evidence do you want ?There is no evidence to support the assertion that autos are cheap death traps.
What evidence do you want ?
why not test one yourself. do a frontal collision test while riding at 90 km/hr. you will find your answer yourself
Tuk tuk can speed up to 90. thats why I said. btw the another vehicle colliding with it can go way beyond 90 in most cases.'a frontal collision test while riding at 90KM/hr'
because autos in India average 90KM/hr
while you're doing that test why don't you do a frontal collision test to see if a bicycle is safe at 90KM/hr ?
Both are equally good, and they fight each other in every market, with Honda having quite a good lead. We feel so because Honda comes up models for normal indians, where as Yamaha is focusing on performance (to Indian standards), Honda has several models, but they know its not worth in India as ofnow.IMO Yamaha lately is bringing good models in Indian Market. They are far ahead than Honda and Suzuki in performance segment.
Hyundai bro.Foreign brand other than Honda diesnt have any kind of foothold in india, I mean to threaten major indian brands
Kia Seltos is a Running success in India. It is selling like hot cakes.Hyundai bro.
I see. Yeah you are right but in the segment that formes the majority of sales, Japanese and euro motorcycles do not have global platforms to offer. My post was specific to 2 wheeler industry
I bought my dad an XUV500 back in 2013 on his birthday; I drove it a couple of times when visiting home. It seems like a good vehicle, the suspension was a bit lacking but my dad really likes it, Other than that we replaced our old Santro with a Hyundai I10. Since then I haven't kept up much with Indian Cars as much. I am hearing that Tata is bleeding some of the land rover DNA into it's tata motor lines which cannot be bad, I suppose.Kia Seltos is a Running success in India. It is selling like hot cakes.
Koreans know what Indean middle class likes ie a butch looking mini SUV. The new engine is way more refined than anything Japanease have, Indian brands are not even anywhere close.
Brazza lost its charm due to Suzuki’s inability to upgrade it and specially its decade old, Fiat source diesel burner which was showing its age in era of buttery smooth new diesel engines from competitors.
My personal favourite is 2nd GenNexon. It has boxy SUVish shape and a Torquey and fairly refined 1.5 lit moter. Its Cheaper too, despite well built.
One more thing I noticed recently is , despite higher price of XUV 300, it is selling quite well. Seen a lot of them during recent trip to my home town in UP
