True. Thankfully, there have been men of caliber willing to do the supreme sacrifice for the people they leave behind(either the whole nation or simply doing their job to support their family). A man motivated by greed of a wealthy life for himself would never serve in a warzone. How nationalism help someone who dies? It always help those who lived.

Propaganda has maligned war as evil. Its always imposed by the craven on the peaceful who simply aren't interested in rolling over and dying. Thats how you get the two sides of a war. So, are they equally evil?
I beg to differ. The largest chunk simply wants to be able to live its life, no matter who burns.Currently a large chunk of the nation is more busy with the war within.
They have no time for Pakistan.
Cheers, Doc
I propose, the lesser evil side simply doesn't have the luxury of choosing. But isn't a responsibility of lesser evil side to make sure his soldiers don't die in vein?
Meanwhile the lives of people for whom they die wont even bother. For what he died for? A moment of glory and then complete apathy?
I am sorry. What is dying in vain? You mean like now where the sacrifices keep being lead to their guardposts while the rest make merry? Or is it the declaring of war and the subsequent death? But isn't a responsibility of lesser evil side to make sure his soldiers don't die in vein?

If I am getting it right, "the war within" is a recent phenomenon again fought by two motivated minute minorities.
We still didn't make war during the yesteryears of "rosy times", when far larger provocations occured.

More to do with Modi-Nawaz nexus of evil. Both are ed buddies and use LOC troubles to mask their political problems.LoC ceasefire violation happens, sporadically, which are understandable. But hardly few days passes that we heard X number of soldiers killed by Pakistan and in retaliation Y number of soldiers killed at Pakistan side.
Not only that, both of the forces are proudly boasting about how they neutralize each others posts by posting videos on social media site.
Such action concludes they are not anymore involuntary ceasefire cases, but an intentional assault TO KILL.
Why are we short of calling it an act of war?
What purpose does this serve apart from keeping a hysteria and hate alive in public? Does that lead to any solution?
Or the one sitting up higher are fine with few soldiers getting killed, getting their propaganda work, with no harm coming to them which a full blown war can bring?

but he too must be hiding something by flaring up LOC.

Yep. About 99.99% of my lifeI do not know about the largest chunk.
What I do know is that A large chunk is most preoccupied with the enemy within.
The Pakistani does not exist except for sporadic chest thumping soundbites.
I have lived through a lot if not most of those yesteryears scars you speak of. As have some others here.
I'm sorry I cannot see your flags (phone).
Do you live in India?
Asking because of the minute minorities bit ....
Cheers, Doc
Yep. About 99.99% of my life
Minute minorities for me. About one in every hundred I meet wants to even talk politics. The 20 to 35 year olds, that I meet, all have pretty mundane worries in real life. I do see a lot of strong opinions on the net from this age group.
But the grocers and shopkeepers, young people, even younger friends haven't broached politics. I get neighbourhood gossip most of the time. One would think if they were fighting/oppose seriously they would atleast talk about it.
So now I have to ask you. What company do you keep?![]()
What do the horoscopes of both India & Pakistan say for the next couple of years ? Is conflict inevitable ? If yes , what's our chances of winning ?It is all about timing. Unless a capacity and circumstances/environment is built up to deliver a decisive outcome in favor of India such as that of 1971, India will demonstrate patience for the right time. Pakistan will have to pay for its deeds, it will not go unpunished.
Remember, Indira Gandhi wanted to go all out in March or Summer of 1971, but General Manekshaw suggested it for the December time frame as the right one.
For an allegedly ex services personnel , frankly I don't know how to characterize your post without being uncharitable and that's putting it mildly . Does NS exercise control over the PA to the extent that they would follow his bidding & could potentially escalate or de escalate tensions on the border ?More to do with Modi-Nawaz nexus of evil. Both are ed buddies and use LOC troubles to mask their political problems.
Nawaz is in the gutter due to corruption cases, i am not sure whats up with Modi politically but he too must be hiding something by flaring up LOC.
The civilian population is Pakistan is wanting to shake hands with us and they want us to help them. We have history of helping our neighborhood and I am sure we will help Baloch, Pashtuns and Sindh, as it will solve our problem as well.
No worries about China either as it will also ditch Pakistan.
Washington casts aside Pakistan as purpose served - Global Times
Washington casts aside Pakistan as purpose served
In his first tweet of 2018, US President Donald Trump opened fire on Pakistan. He wrote, "the United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!"
It is unimaginable how much outrage this tweet can create in Pakistan. Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif soon responded that "We have already told the US that we will not do more, so Trump's 'no more' does not hold any importance."
Pakistan has made tremendous contributions and sacrifices to the international anti-terrorism campaign. Since the outbreak of the Afghan war in 2001, Pakistan has been the biggest support base for US military operations in Afghanistan. Until today, the nation is still a part of the crucial onshore supply line for US troops in Afghanistan.
Being involved in the Afghan war triggered political divergences in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the country has been hit hard by terrorism. It is facing a severe long-term anti-terror task.
New Delhi has been accusing Pakistan of providing shelter for terrorists who attacked India. Such a view coincides with US allegations that Islamabad is not helpful in fighting terror. With regard to the Pakistani government's poor ability to control some of its tribal areas, Washington and New Delhi refuse to show sympathy.
If the US and Pakistan break up, then Islamabad will be forced to move closer to China and Russia. Since China and Pakistan enjoy an all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation, Beijing will without doubt not give up on Islamabad. Pakistan is also the only Islamic country in the world that has nuclear weapons. If the nation is pushed to the limit, the results could be disastrous.
A major reason for the fact that Washington dares to humiliate Islamabad now is that it does not depend on the country the way it used to. The scale of today's US troops in Afghanistan is much smaller than before. Washington is casting Pakistan aside now Islamabad has served its purpose.
The Trump administration's decision might also be linked to the Indo-Pacific strategy proposed not long ago. Washington could rope in New Delhi more closely through the move. A spokesperson for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party welcomed Trump's tweet.
Trump might also want to save some pennies. Since taking office, his administration is eyeing both big and small fortunes, squeezing other countries to contribute to a lazy American society.
China should continue strengthening its friendly cooperation with Pakistan, making it feel that its all-weather friend is reliable. But Chinese should not fall into the logic of confronting the Indo-Pacific strategy. We do not want to make India think that China's support for Pakistan is aimed at New Delhi.
He meant we should be having candle vigils on the border hand in hand singing Kumbaya to the tune of bullets shooting in the background and mortars whistling past their heads .Did you mean we should egg them on and break up Pakistan?
