Weight of each steel road wheel of A2 = 63kg
Weight of each rim wheel of of A2 = 15kg
____________

Each Rubber Composite (RC) Road Wheel = 45kg
Each Rubber Composite (RC) Rim Wheel = 5kg

Each A2 have 32 Road Wheels and 16 Rim Wheels. 2 Road Wheels are stacked together.

Meaning on each side A2 has 16 Road Wheels and 8 Rim Wheels
____________
Calculation of Weight Reduction of A2

Steel Road Wheels + Steel Rim Wheels
= (63 x 32) + (15 x 16)
= 2016 + 240
= 2256 kg

RC Road Wheels + RC Rim Wheels
= (45 x 32) + (5 x 16)
= 1440 + 80
= 1520 kg

Total weight reduction
= 2256 - 1520
= 736kg

So the weight reduction is a huge 740kg on just wheels. It doesn't even includes weight reduction of using composites + high nitrogen steel on chassis and a possible rubber composite track as well.

  • Advanced Running Gear System(ARGS) for Arjun Mk-1A performed exceedingly well by covering more than 6000 km successfully.
  • Production of Mk-1A will include rubberisation of assembly road wheels.
  • DRDO is also investing in procuring spares for mk-1 to increase its availability.

This might be old, but an ace up Arjun's 120mm sleeve.

It's 100% accurate.

The armour and firepower are woefully inadequate for a 3rd generation tank. The only good things about it are mobility, but it still needs a more powerful engine, and it has satisfactory electronics and an APU.

Its firepower is comparable to the T-90S, but is significantly inferior to the T-90MS. And practically obsolete compared to the T-90M/T-14, Abrams, Leopard etc.

Wasn't the lack of a CLGM holding up Arjun production ? Even with an upgraded power-pack the CLGM problem is likely to persist for a while. Also the 1500 hp engines are still a few years away.

Was being sarcastic.

For all the 'attaboy, well done"s to HAL, even the ALH program is having tremendous problems in terms of operational servicability.

I have a few questions about the Arjun Mk2 tank:
1.) will the main gun be a 120mm rifled gun or smoothbore gun?
2.) is the ammunition compartment now armoured?

Other than that, I think Arjun tank is a beast

1) no it’ll be a 125mm rifled gun like mk1
2) I really hope so
