Attack Helicopters of IAF - LCH Prachand, AH-64E Apache : Updates & Discussions

As soon as the official orders a placed HAL will deliver all the LSP aircrafts. Like they were delivering Rudras
Before full scale production starts the LCH will have to complete trials with Self Protection Suite and ATGM both fixed.

@Ashwin, @Ankit Kumar Thank you.

Is the LCH running on schedule? And is it normal for the helicopter to take as long as it has taken before full rate production?
Its definitely late. Too many stringent trials and bureaucracy made sure it is.

Yes, its takes time to reach full-rate production. They reached IOC last Feb and 15 LSPs will be delivered to both services this FY. With the user, they have to fix last mile issues and certify mission-specific equipment. Then they will reach FOC and full-rate production status. The story is the same with HAL LUH.

Surely not on schedule. The ATGM development could have been handled better. Self Protection Suite is another very important item which should have been integrated by now considering that Rudra is already flying with it.

HAL LUH might be quicker as weapons are not an integral part of it.

If there is existing infrastructure and platform having enough life left, there is no harm in adding numbers. However if it's a new bird, then it is not advisable.
First, Your proposed platform was decommissioned or being de commissioned by a nation doesn't face any infantry threat from anyone in the world, and you want India who facing a strong infantry threat from two nations, by undermining the fact that Tiger is obsolete asper Australian standard.

Secondly Tiger never been operated by india, so inducting that obsolete platform is like inducting a new platform, new investment in inventory.
Thirdly we have LCH which surpass Tiger in many aspexts.

Lastly but not least, induct Apaches more, a really potent and deadly platform than any Tiger or LCH.

You really have serious comprehension problems. Read twice before start whining about something.

Tiger helicopter was not offered or considered for India. A new member here merely suggested that. You took it as a given and wrote essays about it.

Second-hand purchase is a good option on many occasions. Even the most wealthy US does that. Read about USMC purchase of Harriers.

Honestly, except the K9 Thunder SPH, there simply is no weapon system that hasn't faced delays. I'm wondering what'll happen of the AMCA (which is something India sorely needs to even think of levelling the field with China). Add to that the sheer inefficiency of our naval shipbuilding and procurement (long build times + delays + budget overruns + incoherent procurement + lack of funds). And then add to that our slowing economy (which means smaller increases in defense budgets over time; capital expenditure allocation for 2021 was almost flat against 2020), and it gets frustrating.

Wow, the price works out to ~ 31-32 million USD. No idea what does the CV include or exclude in terms of LCC, weapons package, spares etc. but that's one expensive heptr.
So I am not 100% sure but only the ATAM launchers were ordered in large numbers. The missile rounds weren't, so they must be a part here too.

And Eurocopter Tiger were produced in smaller numbers for specific batches. Their per unit costs varied from 32 million USD to 45 million USD per piece depending upon the variation. And that was a decade ago.

So cost is not really a very big concern, like it was in Mk1A order.
