Chinese Wuhan Virus Thread

As of now the practice stands, if a person is tested and gets confirmed COVID19, he is sent for treatment. His immediate family members are requested to go in self quarantine with markers placed around the house. However there is nobody to enforce this. Further they are not tested once first person is confirmed infected till next kin gets COVID19. And the process keeps repeating till all get infected. Happened in my neighborhood month back.

It's definitely not enough. Karnataka is testing 47 next of kin per case while Maharashtra is testing 2 per case.

There's no strategy out here in Mumbai or Maharashtra. There wasn't one, 2 months ago. It's a bit late to have one now .

It's not a surprise though, considering all the virus cases in Karnataka are returness from Maharashtra.

Of the new cases on Tuesday, all but 20 patients were people who had returned to Karnataka from Maharashtra, the worst-affected state in the country.

You should check out Brazil though, they totally screwed up.

Coronavirus: India lifts ban on export of Hydroxychloroquine
The Government of India on Wednesday decided to lift the ban on export of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda made the announcement late on Wednesday evening.

In a tweet, the minister said, "Department of Pharmaceuticals has approved the lifting of ban on Export of Hydroxychloroquine API as well as formulations. Manufacturers except SEZ/EOU Units have to supply 20 per cent production in the domestic market. DGFT has been asked to issue formal notification in this regard."

Soon after the Minister's announcement, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade issued a notification (09/2015-20) dated June 10, 2020. This notification will amend the Export Policy of diagnostic kits, laboratory reagents and diagnostic apparatus.

"The notification No. 59 dated 04.04.2020 is amended to the extent that only diagnostic kits/reagents as described in para 1(A) and all diagnostic instruments/apparatus/reagents as described in para 1(B) falling under any HS code, including HS codes specified above, are 'restricted' for exports whether as an individual item or as a part of any diagnostic kits/reagent," says the notification by DGFT which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Hydroxychloroquine has been touted as a potential cure for the novel coronavirus to the extent that it was endorsed by US President Donald Trump and is administered to frontline workers in India as a precautionary drug.

While some studies claim that HCQ cannot prevent Covid-19, others have gone on to assert that it does not aid or expedite the recovery of patients infected by the virus. However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) resumed its trial of HCQ earlier this month after temporarily dropping the drug from its global study into experimental treatments for Covid-19.

This is serious thread, Paddy, you *censored*ing Downs syndrome afflicted retard. Not one where you post memes from WhatsApp that aren't even funny to begin with. Do you think a few million affected & deaths in thousands is a laughing matter ? Do it in the funny section or your TL on FB, you fool. Sometimes, I wonder if you're really a 40+ middle aged person or just someone who's physically aged 40+ but mentally still a juvenile.

Who is doing better , Delhi Sultanat or Maratha Empire to defeat corona? :D
A significant spike in infections in recent weeks has begun taking a toll on the healthcare system - and though India has ramped up testing, it is not uniform across the country, with some states testing much more than others.

For instance, the southern state of Tamil Nadu is testing more than 18,000 people per million, while the worst-affected state, Maharashtra, is only testing 4,688 per million. The national average is around 680 per million.

BBC does not know maths.

Population of TN : 67.8 million
Total tested people in TN @ 18,000 per million : 67.8 * 18000 = 12,20,400 people tested.

India population : 1380 millions
Total tests in India @ 680 per million : 680 * 1380 = 9,38,400 people tested.

How come TN have more people tested than ENTIRE India? Who the hell did they test? Japanese?

Its obvious, British are incapable of reporting facts. Don't trust anything coming from any British media.

All the hospitals where doctors are on strike comes in delhi govt. So don't get fooled.

You don't really need to test based on the size of the population. You only need to test based on the number of positive cases you get. This virus does not transmit easily after all.

So, considering that metric, Maharashtra is extremely pathetic in relation to TN, and TN is also quite bad in relation to more successful states.

Maharashtra is at 1 positive result for every 6.25 tests.
TN, it's 17 tests.
Delhi, it's 8 tests.
Gujarat, it's 12 tests.
UP, it's 35 tests.
Rajasthan, it's 47 tests.
MP, it's 23 tests.
WB, it's 31 tests.

So these are our worst affected states. WHO says the testing rate is good as long as we get 1 positive result for every 10 tests. So Maharashtra and Delhi have to improve a lot.

TN is better than the two states, but falls short of other South Indian states.
Kerala, it's 61 tests.
Karnataka, it's 67 tests.
Andhra Pradesh, it's 94 tests.
Telangana is run by idiots, so can't consider it here.

While we can say that Maharashtra and Delhi are non-BJP states so automatically have bad governance, but TN has had a history of good governance and is a relatively rich state, but its testing rate is still quite dismal compared to its neighbours.

Our three main clusters, with WB, Gujarat and Hyderabad doing their best to compete with them, we definitely need to improve testing in those regions by many times.

I'm pretty sure Hyderabad is f&cked as well, perhaps worse than Mumbai is.

Trump needs to build a wall around Telangana.

I hate to say it but, Muslims are right in not getting afraid of Corona. And neither should we be. It is not a lethal disease and it will only go away when the whole population of India gets exposure of it.
All those data of deaths are false. Government should also stop testing and creating fear.

Its more lethal than flu. And yes, it kills. Quite a few. And even if you survive it leaves you vulnerable to COPD and cardio vascular diseases. Pneumonia itself damages lungs for good.

To make matter worse, it does not grant immunity with repeat infection is possible.
