Corvettes of Indian Navy : News and Discussions

Maha lingam, what i am trying to tell is that the current destroyers we using equivalent to US frigates under construction. You have any different opinion on ir?

The current destroyers of the USN is 1000 tons heavier sir. So the next gen US frigate is heavier than the current USN destroyer also. Next time check instead of tom toming Amreeeka beyst all over the place.

The next gen of both USN and IN are 13000 respectively.

Have you seen the weapon load out? Kolkata & constellation is having 32 vertical launch cells, where Burke is having 90 i guess.

Then stop calling IN corvette as frigate
In general around most navies who operate a frigate , this NGC proposal will constitute as a low end frigate.
US and Japan are of Destroyer Escort philosophy, so cannot compare with them. But rest use the European nomenclature more or less.

First you compared tonnage. Then when shown comparable tonnage, you switched to weapon load out. But first decide which parameter you want to select.

Else, midway of discussion you may jump to range/fuel carrying capacity/helicopter carrying/ personnel and rest.

Here is a hint for you. The P15 is built for future upgrades to accommodate for upgrades in equipment and capabilties. There is a complete discussion on the the deck space usage of the P15 on the relevant thread. Do go through the same.

Amreeeka beyst. U dum dum.

They are pointing out that these corvettes have the firepower of frigates thus it can be called so. Just like PN destroyers have the firepower of an Indian frigate.
RFI numbers like range, size of vessel.... We can say that it will be slightly better than the F22P + modern Air Defence.

Plus the Kora Class Corvettes more or less has the firepower comparable to their Type 21 "Destroyers" 😂

It's more about requirements of each Navy.

A missile vessel elsewhere would be of 500 tons class , while we are aiming for a 2000 ton vessel. It's about requirements.

Any progress on NGMV?
They were the lowest bidder but I haven't heard anything about contract signing. It's been like a year or so now.

"Working towards contract" whatever that means...
