In addition to submarines, Naval Group has signed MoUs with Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam to support their bid for the Navy’s Landing Platform Dock (LPD) ships and with Larsen and Toubro (L&T) to support their midget submarine development.

So, it seems we have two players for LHD program:

I'm not getting it. Wasn't GRSE declared to develop NSG for the IN? If yes then why we are having BHEL also do the development?

Previously, the plan was to construct 6 NGD but now it has changed to 8 which will be built in 2 phase with both phases having 4 destroyers each.
Also, P-17B will also be executed with same number i.e. 7 ships.

MDL is expecting,
7 P-17B for Rs 60,000 cr
8 NGD for Rs 80,000 cr
Repeat kalvari can be with or without API. So, no full clarity on cost. Order can be expected in 6 months.
Korea's have informed in writing that they are withdrawing from the P75I project. Thus MDL tied up with TKMS.
MDL is working with NDB for Project 76 SSK design.
Although its all hypothetical, my 2 cents on this:
Our sanctioned strength for destroyers is 15 and for frigates it is 24. By 2027, we will be having 10 DDG:

03 P-15A
04 P-15B
And 23 FFG:
03 P11356 Batch 1
03 P-16A
03 P11356 Batch 2
03 P-17
07 P-17A
04 P11356 Batch 3/4
We will be short of 5 DDG and 1 FFG to reach the sanctioned numbers.
We will be replace 03 P-16A and 03 P11356 Batch 01 frigates with 07 P-17B and reach the total number of 24 FFG by ~2035.
