GTRE may have approved a consultancy project for Kaveri Dry engine maintenance philosophy development , per the CV of someone from academia. This is consultancy work so will probably be done post-production at Godrej by GTRE people collab ie plant visit, testing etc perhaps. Reliability study is essential for any new product or system, and a good indicator of the overall project progress.

ps: interesting tidbits below :sneaky:

news from the seminar

Writing is so bad. What are they trying to say here?

GTRE pleading the govt for their flying test bed. It takes multiple years of pleading & some huge luck for Govt to finally give nod.
Few days ago, I wrote in some thread(don't remember in which one) that we need Su-30MKI as flying test bed for all our fighter size desi turbofan/jet engines. And ahem..ahem..as per Alpha Defense, GTRE has now approached gov. to lease/allot them 2 Su-30MKIs as flying-testbed for future Kaveri variants. Once again my "optimism" is proving correct, it seems:ROFLMAO:

First of all, Kaveri cannot be tested on MKI without heavy modification because of physical dimensions. Mig-29 is the correct platform to test a Kaveri like engine. Such proposal exist even in 90s. GTRE people were vocal about it then.

Secondly, You take in difference between actual journalists with sources and amateur SM accounts who makes content for clicks. Even in defence journalists in india people with credibility is only handful.

As per the report they are looking to lease Mig-29 as well for testing along with MKI.

Relevant posts:
We need to establish these test facilities for engine development.
  • Twin test cell at GTRE
  • High altitude test bench
  • Flying testbed
There is no update on the twin test cell facility after an EOI five years ago.

You can get a used 747-8 at cheap rates for a flying testbed.

DRDO actually already acquired 100 acres of land at Telangana for High altitude test facility.

From 2016 standing committee report:

More on planned GTRE Rajanukunte test facility from 2016:

GTRE has planned to set up Full Engine Test Facilities for Aero Gas Turbine Engines and Component Test Facilities at Rajanakunte Campus, Bengaluru.

The following Component Test Facilities to test Gas Turbine Engines have been envisaged at Rajanukunte, Bengaluru.
  • Fan and Compressor test facility, combustor, Turbine and Afterburner test facility with thrust Vectoring Nozzle.
  • Twin test cells for full scale engine testing along with Engine Assembly Hangar and Compressed air House.
  • Small Engine Test Facility.
  • Test facility to test Marine Gas Turbine Engines.
  • Air supply facilities for test rigs, buildings, roads and other infrastructure has also been planned.
The above test facilities are likely to cost approximately Rs.2100 Crore.

This info came out from the GTRE seminar possibly from M Siddque sir speech in the beginning part, so likely another push , their target is getting a mig29 prob, but a higher aim is mentioned so that Govt at least gives nod to the least.

That makes sense. It must be available on YouTube then.

No joy, was fully restricted, registration only. But the sessions looked promising. i was interested in the variable cycle engine session, but needed student id or company letter to register. Below is the brochure.
