Anybody into weightlifting ?
I only started about 6 months ago . Have always been doing exercises without weights. But my son started weight training with friends and dragged me into it. Him being nearly 6 foot 5 big guy can lift a lot. Myself i can only do 40 Kg Bench press and squats with same, and occasionally 70 Kg dead lift. Being cautious as many moons ago i had backbone injury during a training exercise and it still hurts.

Yes. One has to be very careful. I injured my back 20 years ago and still don't dare to do deadlift or sqart with heavy weights. I have been trying to reach 300lb for bench press, but so far struck at 285lb.

How long are you training?

Also how were you injured? Weight training or anything else?

Since 1994, not very regular though. I was injured due to a stupid trainer who forced me to overtrain. It started with excess no of push ups and then became serious with weight training. I had to stop all kind of exercises for 6 months to fully recover.

I have been training from past 7-8 months, regularly, before that I was overweight and never saw gym. Lost extra 6-7kg now again trying to put on some muscles.

I wanted to get muscles and lose fat, I got both :) took me quite strong discipline but I got it.
You can do that. Increase protein content in your diet and workout around 45 mins per day, 5 days a week. You should take at least 1.5 gms of protein for every kilo of your body weight and sleep at least 8 hrs per day. Cut down carb and fat intake and increase greens.
