High speed / Semi-High speed rail projects of Indian Railways

I wonder if the rolling stock will be derived from Train 18 . @Ankit Kumar ; @Gautam
Would be from a modified off the shelf Bombardier design. Of standard guage.
What's the difference between the 2 , if you can explain in brief?
T-18 project is on hold at the moment. There are some technical issues too regarding not meeting all RDSO standards.

Its kinda dead at the moment. The present two rakes might also be taken off the service.

No one knows the exact reason but a big fcukup

The worst part is utter silence from the Rail Ministry & the Minister concerned. One hasn't heard of a probe or any clarification of what's happening to the project. Then there was the T-19 or T-20 which was to have followed the T-18. Nor has opposition or the media probed the matter.Very disappointing.

Passenger rail movement doesn't bring economics on the table and is bound to be ignored. On the other hand from World Bank to every small contractor gives regular tweets on DFCs. You see that's economically feasible for them.

Upgradation projects for WAG 9 and WAP 7 to 9000hp locomotives started at the same time, while WAG 9 9000hp engines are actually out doing commerical running, no news on upgraded WAP7.

The intercity and local passenger movement all around the world has investments from the local government. And the Indian Railways too wants state governments to pour in more. Untill that happens, nothing major will change in passenger segment.

The High Speed Segment in selective regions make economic sense than air travel for businesses. You will definitely see investments on them. Infact even in the lockdown the government was working their *censored* off to relocate the grid lines from the proposed route of Ahmedabad and Mumbai HSR. Even posting everyday update of the progress.

Pune-Nashik semi high-speed rail got a go-ahead signal
MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): On Thursday, The Pune-Nashik rail line project was given the go-ahead, and ready to connect 2 essential powerhouses of India’s most vibrant. The state-run Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Co Ltd (MRIDC) completed the DPR for the high-speed rail in Feb and posted for Railway Board & Maharashtra govt permission.

According to the diagram, above rail network shows, there is no direct rail connectivity among Pune-Nasik. Rail network has to go via complicated route by Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Diva, Kalyan, Igatpuri till Nasik. This rail project will be the world’s 1st semi high-speed corridor over the broad gauge, Maharail declared.

MRIDC/MahaRail will be completing the semi-high-speed double line project that will reduce the travel time aims to bring the travel time from Pune-Nashik for almost a couple of hours.

This semi-high speed corridor including double railway broad gauge lines from Pune to Nasik will allow the trains to operate at a speed of up to 250 km/h in the future.

As Pune and Nasik both are equally fastest rising cities of Maharashtra and together constituting 18 per cent of the population of the state & contributing 19% Gross Value Added to the state.

The corporation stated in a release that the MRIDC has aimed to operate the Pune-Nashik broad gauge rail line with the commercial speed of 200km per hr with coming addition up to 250 km per hr.

The Railway line will touch 3 districts of Maharashtra which is Pune, Ahmednagar & Nashik by serving seamless connectivity to industrial zones of Pune & Nashik like Alandi, Chakan, Khed, Manchar, Narayangaon, Sinnar & Satpur.

Railway Board alignment Samruddhi Corridor for Nagpur-Mumbai High-Speed Rail
NAGPUR (Metro Rail News): For the proposed Nagpur Mumbai High-Speed Railway, the Railways Board is weighing the option of a Samruddhi Corridor alignment, whose DPR is being made by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited.

The project is facing some issues including the land acquisition for the proposed high-speed rail track, as per the senior railway officer. “It will be too quick to comment on how the HSR would move through the Mumbai – Nashik – Nagpur route. There is a Greenfield project in one of the proposals being weighed.

The lands prepared with the Samruddhi Corridor cannot be ruled out,” declared the officer. The state-owned National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited that is also looking after the construction work of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad HSR service, commonly denoted as the bullet train, has been assigned the responsibility of preparing the DPR and the exercise is possible to take about a year’s around time.

Further, the officer pointed out that a survey will be 1st carried out to settle the best route among the 2 cities. “Since this would be a high-speed corridor, where trains will run with speeds exceeding Two-hundred kmph, the existing alignment is of no use. That can best serve semi-high speed trains running in speeds in the range of 150 kmph-180 kmph. Hence we have to go for new alignments,” the officer responded.

The officer told that the Samruddhi Expressway can play a guiding role in the new high-speed rail track. Land acquisition is the largest hurdle, and in some specific fields due to the ongoing govt works, there is hardly some space left to be obtained.

“In such cases, the Samruddhi Mahamarg has all the features needed to run the HSR by it. If that was done, the land acquisition cost could be slashed down drastically, but that is just a possibility,” the officer replied.

The officer also hinted that at places where there is a little scope for getting the land alignment can be in proximity of the Samruddhi Expressway, whose median is 15 m wide sufficient for the train to run through. At other times the alignment can take its course.

I personally want all state govt's to emulate Kerala's plan in their respective states and reduce travel time for inter state travel. This will increase productivity of people. Currently, precious time of Indians is getting wasted in journeys. With semi/high speed rails, we can cut the travel time by half. Average speed of Indian railways has to be improved to at least 100 KMPH

They should put a 10% leeway to Indian companies.

Well.... Even better. At least got the priorities right.

I think people are misled. SETC is not disqualified. SETC is qualified for Package 4 while the current news is about L&T bagging Package 1 and 2. The government did not ban SETC in taking up work related to Package 4.

Which train sets can be prospective contenders for running as private trains on Indian Railways with the current infrastructure and average speed of 100 KMPH ?

IMO All Rajdhani, Shabdi,Humsafar and similar trains

I think you didn't get my question bro. I know the fact that current locomotives are capable of hauling at speeds excess of 100 but still Indian Railways is looking for Train 18 or Spanish Talgo trains which will have higher acceleration power.
