@Ashwin @randomradio try & find out about Nimrod 3 in Indian inventory.
Also, check on Delilah off Heron TP

AFAIK, there is no mention of India having acquired Nimrod in open source.

Also, there is little information out about Heron TP as well. So we do not know what weapons were acquired along with the 10 TPs. The size of the weapons deal is likely too small to entice media attention, which is unfortunate. Or the MoD has successfully managed to keep a lid on it.

Anyway, for any action across the LoC, Nirmod makes a whole lot more sense than Delilah. Delilah is a medium range cruise missile with a range of 250Km whereas Nimrod is like the cheap version of Spike NLOS.

@Falcon - why is PA letting us kick the seven shades of hell out of them and still coming for more with no major changes in its approach ?

does it strike as odd to you?

My guess, the valley is on watch, ISI wouldn't want to send any anybody across for now. Except for some occasions until the infiltrators can mix and use the communication from the valley. So now days they are only on preparation mode. Could be shifting their resources towards Punjab as well, and FATF coming.

There you go, not perfect but 80% readable.

12 days of planning, 12 fighter jets; A take-off to the heart of the country

Mithun m. Kuriakose

OCTOBER 13, 2019 09:49 AM IS

India's 12 fighter jets crashed into Pak-occupied Kashmir's Balakot in response to the Pulwama terror attack. India's resilience came after 12 days of clandestine planning and preparation. Former Air Force Marshal (Retd.) C. Kumar, former Commander of the Western Air Force Command, who led the Balakot attack. Harikumar opens his mind ...

February 14, 2019: Kashmir: India has been rocked by a terror attack on CRPF army convoy in Pulwama. That evening, the Chief of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, Western Air Command Chief Air Marshal C.S. He asked Harikumar, "What is the way before us?" As the fighter warrior responds - the army is ready for the blow!

Harikumar, a native of Chengannur, was responsible for the airstrikes carried out by the army against the terror base at Balakot in Pakistan-held Kashmir. On the morning of February 26, just two days before stepping down from his 39-year career, Harikumar embarked on the biggest mission of his life. Harikumar, who is the man behind the successful Balakot Operation in India through meticulous planning and mismanagement, shares the aerial moments of 'Manorama':

Great secret, planning

Shortly after the Pulwama attack, Sena chief Dhanoa called me. As the head of the Delhi-based Western Command, I was in charge of air security on the Pakistani border. Dhanoa indicated that airstrikes could be used against Pakistan. Harikumar has known Dhanova ever since he was 11 years of age at the Political Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun. Dhanoa was a senior for 3 years. Harikumar has replied to his friend since school - the army is ready for any action against Pakistan. Dhanova suggested that the operation be kept secret. Dhanova informed the central government at the meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations that it was ready for airstrikes.

Apart from us, only 2 senior officers of the Army were aware of the operation in the initial stages. The next day Dhanoa came to see me at the Western Command headquarters. It was said to be a regular visit. We had a secret meeting that day and started planning.

Target Balakot

Resilience The first task was to uncover terror bases on the soil of Pakistan. We found multiple places where the terrorists were standing. On February 18, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval called us. Roy, a member of the intelligence community, was informed about the terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed's base at Balakot.

Doval handed over information, including video footage of the camp. We decided that Balakot was better suited for aerial bombardment as it was not a populated area. Intelligence reports also indicate that the Indian settlement began at around 4 am Indian time. We made sure to attack before the terrorists could sleep.

Mirash for the attack

The mission decided to deploy the MiRASH 2000 warplanes, which could carry the Spice Bomb and the Crystal Mays missile,
which could be used for submarines The attack came after a number of factors including the nature of the attack and the
which could be used for submarines. The attack came after a number of factors, including the nature of the attack and the
resilience of the attackers, arrived. Subsequently, the Pokhran of Rajasthan, close to the Pakistani border, carried out pre- emptive forces (air force). I flew back to Delhi that night. His wife Devika asked him how dirty he was; I replied that I had a lot of work to do.

On the 21st I flew to the Gwalior garrison in Madhya Pradesh, where the Mirash Fighter Squadron is located. The Mirage aircraft of the Gwalior bases under the command of the Central Command were placed under the Western Command for Balakot Operation. On my unexpected visit to Delhi from Gwalior, a technique was used to ensure that no one was in doubt - my retirement service was organized there at the end of February.

I had a secret meeting with the selected fighter pilots on the cover of the ceremony. He told them two things: 1. The operation you are going to do may result in a war between India and Pakistan. Don't mind it. Let’s look at the consequences. 2. Return to India safely at any cost after completing the mission. If it falls, fall on Indian soil! I could feel the excitement in their veins.

No whiskey, but juice instead

It was later awaited the most appropriate day for the attack. The mission was scheduled for the night of 25–26, taking into account the weather, moonlight, and wind direction from the west. The soldiers had organized a retirement party for me in Delhi on the night of the 25th. The cancellation of the foreshadowing event would have signaled that unnatural things were about to happen, and ensured that everything was going as usual.

I didn't drink regular whiskey at the retirement party at night. Instead of being suspicious of the other crew members, he told the

waiter's ear to give him the same color. At the party, Commander-in-Chief Dhanoa shifted me to a vacant place and said, 'I leaving. If the mission is successful, please inform me by phone on the Hindi code word 'bandar' (meaning monkey). After rushing out of the party, I took my wife Devika home and rushed to the Sena Center. There, in the control room, we were exposed to Gwalior, Balakot and the airway to the destination on various screens.

Birthday cake on mission!

At eleven o'clock Devika's phone rang. The next day my co-workers get home with a cake to cut for the 12th night! I rushed home because the evacuation was suspicious. Cut the cake and return to the control room. She told Devika that she was busy. The next day we were going to the inauguration of the Sena School which was started in Chandigarh by Devika for differently abled children. Devika was asked not to stay out of Delhi and to leave her alone.

One-sided, Gwalior - Balakot

At dawn on 26 June, 12 Mirab aircraft fired at Gwalior targeted Balakot. The planes flew into two groups of 6 each. Four of them flew behind them to support them. We were concerned that the extraordinary removal of the warplanes would create suspicion among the locals and would be shared by the social media. Gwalior's mobile signals had been deactivated for a while, but were abandoned because it would cause further trouble.

An Air Force officer was sent to the control room of the airport to conceal the fighter jets' flight over Delhi. He sent a message to the airport authorities saying they did not see any fighter jets on the radar. This time, a tanker (refueling) aircraft from the base in northern India was refueled in the air over Miras.

His commanding officers were then instructed to deploy the warplanes at various military bases in northern India to support Mirash. Meanwhile, we hid the full details of the mission from them. It only sent a message that Pakistan was ready to face any situation at the border.

12 aircraft, in front of Pakistan

We saw on the control room screen of the Delhi Army Center that the Mirage aircraft was being aimed at Balakot. Meanwhile,
the sight of the airstrip near Rawalpindi shocked us. Pakistan's reconnaissance aircraft and the F-16 fighter jet will fly it. If they can find Mirash on their radar, the mission will collapse!

Our Sukhoi 30 MKI sent Jaguar warplanes to Bahawalpur, Pakistan to send an urgent message to pay heed to Pak airplanes. In a matter of seconds, 6 planes took off from the western bases of Bahawalpur. It created the impression that Bahawalpur was going to invade. The Mirab aircraft crashed into Balakot as it flew out of Rawalpindi towards Pakistan.

Sukhoi, which became the focus of Pakistani airplanes, flew back to the Jaguar after it was airborne. On the other hand, 12 MiRASH planes flew into two groups, flying into the air. They went under cover of the mountains and flew over the border. The planes then crashed into Balakot from 2 directions. We watched the crucial moments of the mission in Delhi suffocate.

At 3.28am the first bomb from Mirash hit the terror base. The planes were set on fire in front of Pakistan for 12 minutes. They flew back after attacking the base. At four o'clock, all the aircraft safely entered the Indian Air Force. They flew in two places. That night the Air Force proved that Indian warplanes and fighter pilots had the capability to fly into Pakistan and return safely without a scratch.

Bandar!

At the end of one of the most stressful moments of my life, I phoned the commander in the control room and said a word; Bandar! News of the attack broke out in the morning; And my wife Devika! Two days later, on 28 February, Harikumar retired from the army. Harikumar then proceeded to take off to another place; To the heart of the country!

This service is excellent Harikumar, who joined the Air Force in 1979, is one of the best fighter pilots the country has ever seen. He has over 3300 hours of flying experience and was the commanding officer of a strategic fighter squadron at the border. He was the head of the
Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment in Gwalior, providing expert training to some of the country's best fighter

pilots in aviation tactics. In addition to the Western Command, he also commanded the Eastern Command of the Shillong (Meghalaya) headquarters, which provides air security on the China border. In 2018, the country was honored with the highest military honor, the Paramajaya Seva Medal for highest civilian honor in service.

Pakistan Army Raised a Big Hue and Cry
After August 5

So now if they Vacate their posts and Fall Back for Safety , India will expose them
As Having Abandoned their posts

They have no other option but to Take all this Pounding

We have brought in additional soldiers from outside Northern Command to strengthen our counter-infiltration posture along the LoC.

Troops have also been pulled out of pockets where terror has been dormant and sent to forward locations.

No patch of the border is unguarded and we have repelled the majority of infiltration attempts,” General Singh told Hindustan Times.

Yep. But drones don't show up as they they have very low to none heat signatures.
Come on man. These aren't your Predator kind of drones. These are the ones which often carry payloads of anywhere between 10-20 kgs worth of arms, ammo, drugs, etc across the Punjab. I've no clue if these can be deployed across the LoC for similar operations given the terrain there as opposed to the plains in Punjab.

These are your quad copters that can carry a small load. A single 7.62 hit can take out enough of it to bring it down.

The seeker on the Strela and Igla systems are designed to be of IR type and they need primarily a large heat source to lock on to, in any case you have to point the weapon after locating the drone visually. The fuse is of Impact type and proximity fuse. Latest variant of these missiles also include an UV sensor and a cooled sensor to get around chaff and ir buzzers countermeasures. However, the issue is locating the drone visually or through radar (Small size and small heat signature because their exhaust is barely as hot as those on Helos and bigger sircraft). Hence these won't work. Hence these wont work as the missile will likely miss even if we are able to locate it visually...

Anti drone detection systems weren't even mainstream till 2014-15. You can read about these here : 9 Counter-Drone Technologies To Detect And Stop Drones Today

That's what I'm driving at. Why would they need orders from Delhi for doing so? There's clearly a cock eyed view towards security related stuff among our security managers.

Read up on weapon sytems. You cannot simply point out a drone in an open sky they are not the off the shelf toys... they are made to evade visual identification and have the foot print of a large bird that radars ususally filter out.
