Naval Pinaka capable of underwater operations & submarine countermeasures.
Range 75km, 1st trial expected this year.
IAF variants will include surface-to-surface & air-to-surface capabilities for Su-30 pic.twitter.com/HdXs1iMyQf
OPV & amphibious boats & Large auxiliary boats.what ships would carry this naval pinaka pods realistically ? OPV's ?
Thanks, this would be interesting. Any guess how they plan to use the anti submarine use case projectiles vis-a-vis something like the ER-ASR? The jump in range is very stark contrast compared to the RBU rockets and also hard to make the accuracy work in marine environment ?OPV & amphibious boats & Large auxiliary boats.
My guess is coastal batteries for A2/AD ops against subs. Probably linked to coastal radar, SOSUS, USV/UUV, sats, etc. Thanks, this would be interesting. ARDE is about to do another round of ER-ASR trials at PXE Balasore and other places, total 3 locations.
ER-ASR's warhead acts as a depth charge. I was thinking if we had a variant of the Pinaka DPICM warhead we could use it to overwhelm enemy sub's sonars.Any guess how they plan to use the anti submarine use case projectiles vis-a-vis something like the ER-ASR?

- Got PSQR from IN, first trial in 2025. For ASW, 75km range
- IAF also looking at modified Pinaka for forward areas & air-launched variant
- 120km range Pinaka rocket developmental trials to start soonhttps://t.co/jCOqgMnQc1 pic.twitter.com/bOhh52PF4X
So this is a lower range, but cheaper, alternative to the SMART missile? Land based rocket launched anti-submarine weapon using a depth charge instead of a torpedo? The first trial of Pinaka naval variant is scheduled to take place later this year.
