Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Programme - Updates and Discussions

Just imagine, a single NGD will be capable of carrying all 4 types of BMD missiles - AAD, PDV, AD-1 and AD-2. Providing absolute defence against any incoming missile be it SRBM, MRBM and IRBM.
The ship is surely INS Anvesh. One thing which is left is , was it fired from SLS or from VLS?
IMO, A41 has only SLS no VLS. The 4 tubes at the end are most probably the exhaust tubes.

both SLS and VLS are surely there.

Is this our Aeigis equivalent anti ballistic system?

No, it's only endo-atmospheric. An exo capability needs to be added, followed by a basic mid-course capability.

We will achieve Aster-equivalent capabilities once minimum exo capabilities are also demonstrated, ie, about 50-80Km altitude.

I guess bigger ships are the need of the hour for BMD.

One doubt:

We recently test fired naval version of AAD missile. But the range of AAD is only 40km. Also, the PDV missile is very bulky but it has a range of 150km. Do you think, are we gonna use them on our Next Generation Destroyers? Or they will only carry AD-1/AD-2?

If its a dedicated sea bsed BMD like Japan then both goes in imo, but it will be several/many years from now till that happens.

According to @Patriots from other forum - BMD has been activated
Full scale BMD can not get activated until AD2 is tested, what they have done is implementing upto AD1 stage (endo + near exo, upto 5000km) from both land and sea based system. Exo interceptor is yet to be tested, and we have already seen tender for hardstanding being built to launch target ICBM (they call it AD target launch site) for AD2 test phase at Junput. Post the above in there with the pics from previous posts above in this page, I guess they know.

Actually BMD is divided into two phases and the first phase was ready for induction in 2019 itself. So, there exists a chance that phase 1 might have been given green light for induction.

Yes, but the sea based interceptor of AD-1 was not tested back then. That is completed now so phase 1 is has reached a very good capability stage. Next will be the Ad-2 on both land and NGD like platform, hopefully dedicated ones.

Sea based is definitely not part of phase 1. I have seen multiple seminars on BMD program a decade back when the program was at its peak. There was no mention.

Test from ship is possibly a precursor to future program for the navy.
