Indian Defense Industry General News and Updates

HVT sir taking on the hitjob sort of story posted in Fin express thread

It might be a hit job . But if you see , there are not many companies in the world who have exclusive privilege to serve a Airforce as large as IAF for last 70 plus years . Its been mostly importing component and assemble them here for most part of its history . We dont have proper male drone , forget about hale drone or stealth drone and exporting them . And then you compare with new entries from south korea , Turkey . See their export earning . Question arises whether there is any deficiency . May be its the company or the overall system .

The Army is looking for start-ups to create satellite-based systems to track and monitor troop movements. The project to develop the systems has been placed in the 8th edition of the Defence India Start-up Challenge (DISC) that was issued in December 2022.

Defender X2 is a multi-shot quick reload fully autonomous counter drone system. The onboard compute unit fuses multi-sensor data to detect, track and engage the drone . Loaded with 2 Stinger400, Dx2 uses Eo/IR camera input along with vision24 RADAR to offer 24X7 protection. Multiple sensors increases the detection range and probability and makes the system weatherproof. Once detected, Dx2 goes into pursuit & neutalize mode. Defender is capable of towing away heavy drones or shoot them with self-deployable parachute nets.

Print Snhesh Philip calls year 2022 as turning point for Indian military.

I don't know if we didn't have such level of magnitude before... To call it turning point for Indian military by those six reasons seems unbelievable to me.

It's weird for a video like this to have come out now, since India's defence acquisitions happen across a financial year and not a calendar year. So that's April to March. The MoD's main contracts typically happen between Sept and March, ie, post monsoons, and after GoI is happy with the overall tax collections.

U mean to say he could have added MRCBF and any other deals that ll happen till march 31 , 2023.

It's not possible to say what can happen by then. Specific to MRCBF, it's possible for the US to make a fuss about it and force a delay. "Hey, how about testing the F-35B as well?" for example.

And if GoI is not happy with the money flow, then they typically push the remaining capital budget into the revenue budget and delay new orders to the next FY.

That video is definitely premature though. Even the budget session is a month away, whereas contracts are signed right up to the last days of March.

Its almost election time so even the industry sector, desi ones, do expect the spending to get curbed gradually in next 12-18 months. Add with it Govt policy of export matching import, and everything made locally (mostly by JV/screwdriver involving as the fav term go) so absolute nothing happening on mrcbf too, other than formally declaring a winner, rafale. Price negotiating etc will go on for 2 years, suits the timing, and all tenders will be issued to IDDM/DcPP route.

Wonder if they will post a 5th list by 26th January.

MRCBF is being done in a hurry. It won't see delays, plus the IN has money.
