Hi, I have a question, we seems to have 3 different short range SAMs in Akash NG, VL-SRSAM and QRSAM.
I understand the difference in launch platforms and fire control systems, but why are missiles different? Why couldn't we have gone for a common missiles for all three usecases?
This seems to be duplication of work and wastage of money

Why is Mahindra in shambles? Their mortar system is imported as well. Writing all this diarrhoea before basic google search. Twitter dehati.
Major components are still shared or derived from existing technologies i.e. seekers, propulsion, warhead etc. Remaining design decisions are based on requirements by the users. All three of these projects have unique user requirement.

That's quite a lot of launchers that have been built with a firm order in place.
Also if the Akash-NG squadron composition is anything like MRSAM, then we will not see any more than 3-4 launchers/FU per squadron.

View attachment 52729MRSAM seems more credible by the fact that Akash-NG is still 2-3 year away(DAC has not cleared yet).
Akash NG is 2 pulse missile with much higher range(50 vs 30) and much higher altitude( 6 vs 14).
QRSAM would be that pest you just can't get rid of. It's the only SAM system in India that can survive without inputs from IACCS (which is critical, allows a SAM battery to conceal its radar until the it is required to engage a target).
