Indian Sonar and Torpedo developments

Are we procuring F-21 torpedos or integrating the desi one?
Why do you ask that? It specifically mentions EHWT which is a DRDO development.

$100 million just to integrate is outrageous. This is what happens when you don’t have design control.

Because of that price I got confused.

All depends what means "integrate".
Maybe indian side want a "black box" between the torpedo and the sub conbat system to avoid data leaks.
Maybe indian side want a certain number of field tests with all the traceability needed.
Maybe indian side ask Naval Goup some know how about, for exemple, fiber optic guidance or....

We don't have the details, and no one forced the indian side to ink.

Unlike Indian missile projects, torpedo development isn't as closely followed in Indian defence circles. We have covered a lot of ground in torpedo development the last 10-15 years. Indian electric torpedoes, both HWT & LWT, can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best electric torpedoes globally.

What is still missing from our portfolio is a great thermal torpedo. Most major navies still rely on thermal torpedoes as their primary underwater weapons as it is very hard to match the performance of a thermal torpedo with electric propulsion.

In the column in yellow I have marked out my wish list specs of a future thermal HWT, should we pursue that option. I believe such a torpedo is within our capability range over the next decade & would be a great fit as the primary weapon of our upcoming P77 SSNs.
