Senate Approves Motion to Declare Chinese as Official Language

Slowly but surely Pakistan is becoming 6th province of China.... @safriz Chinese will dump Islam as they did in Xinjiang where they make mullahs dance and ban Koran and its teaching..... Welcome to new master, Pakistan will now be slave province of lizard Stan...

Yup, I am against this level of Chinafication. But then again our politicians are sold out and will do anything for the right money.

Your politicians are not as powerful as your army. PA pulls the strings in Pakistan.and we all know that.
But atleast you were honest enough to admit that you're against "Chinafication" of your country and not like rest of the Pakistanis who have blinkers on their eyes.

Personally think "chinaification" of Pakistan is impossible and overhyped. The elites of Pakistan maybe betrothed to a few vested interests and may pass some laws. But the lay people of Pakistan and their respected mullahs would never allow it. Their willingness to fight for their beliefs is simultaneously, very inspiring and as well as a large reason for their doom. The chinese ideology can't match this. One only has to take a look at Malaysia and Indonesia. Countries which actually have a relatively massive Chinese ethnic population who have close links with China. They are the wealthiest communites as well as the most hated by the majorities. This, I feel, is the likelier end to this dance.

The beginning of Re-Colonization of Pakistan.

First came the Arabs.
Then the Turks,
Then the British.
And now the Chinese.

Islamabad [Pakistan], Feb 19 (ANI): The Pakistani Senate on Monday approved a motion to declare Mandarin as one of the official languages of Pakistan.

The motion said the step was necessary in view of ties between Pakistan and China, AbbTakk News reported.

It said the relation between Islamabad and Beijing would deepen further and help the people connected with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor communicate easily if Mandarin was made the official language of the South Asian nation.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani tweeted: "In a short span of 70 years, Pakistan has flirted with promoting four languages that were not the mother tongue of many people in the country - English, Urdu, Arabic, and now Chinese -- ignoring native languages."

Punjabi, which is widely spoken in Punjab province of Pakistan, Pashto and many other native languages have not been declared official languages of the country.

According to Dawn News, Pakistanis are more interested in learning the Chinese language than ever as they see the tides changing and expect that knowing Mandarinwould mean more job opportunities in Pakistan and China.

Pakistan has the worst infant mortality rate in the world, reveals UNICEF report

WASHINGTON: A UNICEF report on child mortality revealed Pakistan to have the worst new-born mortality rate.

Released on Tuesday, the report said babies born in the world’s poorest countries, most of them in Africa, still face ‘alarming’ risks of death that can be 50 times as high as those in the richest countries.

The differences are stark. A baby born in Pakistan — the country with the worst newborn mortality rate — faced a one in 22 chance of death, while a newborn in Japan had only a one in 1,111 risk of dying, the report said.

Of the 10 highest-risk countries, eight are in sub-Saharan Africa, countries where “pregnant women are much less likely to receive assistance,” due to poverty, conflict or weak institutions, according to the report.

Those eight countries are the Central African Republic (a one in 24 chance of death); Somalia, Lesotho, Guinea-Bissau and South Sudan (all with a one in 26 chance); Cote d’Ivoire (one in 27) and Mali and Chad (both with a one in 28 chance.

More than politicians it's the top military brass which mostly is Punjabi or brainless pakjabi that is sold out in Pakistan. Had they got any interest in uplifting of people and Pakistan as a nation they would have befriended India which would have brought a huge windfall for Pakistan in terms of increased business and access to a market with 1.3 billion people. Add to this a reduced defence budget and Pakistan would have enjoyed huge budget surplus instead of deficit..... and citizens enjoying social welfare schemes instead of picking guns for becoming terrorist mercenary army and becoming cannon fodder and suicide bomber. Today Pakistan is seen as terrorist nation due to Pak Army's irrational behaviour.......

Pakistan given three-month reprieve over terrorist financing watchlist: Minister

Pakistan has been given a three-month reprieve by a global watchdog over a US-led motion to put the South Asian country on a terrorist financing watchlist, Pakistan’s foreign minister Khawaja Asif said late on Tuesday.

Pakistan has been scrambling in recent months to avoid being added to a list of countries deemed non-compliant with anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regulations by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a measure that officials fear could hurt its economy.

FATF member states have been meeting this week in Paris, where it was expected that they would decide on a US motion, backed by Britain, France and Germany, to have Pakistan added to the so-called “grey list” of countries which are not doing enough to comply with terrorist-funding regulations.

Asif, who is currently on a visit to Russia, tweeted late on Tuesday that Pakistan’s “efforts have paid (off)” during a February 20 meeting on the US-led motion, suggesting there was “no consensus for nominating Pakistan”.

He also suggested the meeting proposed a “three months pause” and asked for the Asia Pacific Group, which is part of FATF, to consider “another report in June”.

In Washington, a state department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, could not confirm that FATF deferred action for three months, pointing out that the organisation’s deliberations are confidential until it makes them public.

The international community continues to have concerns about deficiencies in Pakistan’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing system even though Islamabad has begun taking steps to address the flaws, said the state department official without elaborating.

Pakistan earlier this year submitted a report about the progress it had made in curbing terrorist financing, but Washington submitted its motion before the Pakistan report could be discussed at the Paris hearing.

“Grateful to friends who helped,” Asif added.

Two other Pakistani officials confirmed Pakistan had received a reprieve of three months.

Washington has been threatening to get tough with Islamabad over its alleged ties with Islamist militants, and last month President Donald Trump’s administration suspended aid worth about $2 billion.

Islamabad, which denies assisting militants in Afghanistan and India, has reacted angrily to US threats of further punitive measures.

However, Pakistan’s government is concerned the FATF decision could hurt its banking sector, causing financial pain to the economy just as a national election looms.

For those who know Pakistan well, it is stories like this that make the most sense: :D

"The disclosure by a federal minister on Tuesday that a lucrative toll plaza contract had silently been awarded to a military-owned construction company for 20 years without a competitive bidding process set off alarm bells in the Senate, with a vocal senator terming it a disturbing development and asking the chair to refer the matter to the relevant standing committee.

The revelation was made by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, who told the house that the contract had been awarded to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for an extended term of 20 years after the previous contract expired last year.

Speaking on an issue of public importance, Senator Farhatullah Babar criticised the 20-year extension in the contract for toll collection by the National Highway Authority without bids, without discussion in parliament and even without making it public."

That's the noble way of Pakistanis saying Thank You to their armed forces for all they have done to the country. :)

Anyone thinking otherwise is of course a hmm....you know who.
