Three FC soldiers killed, two others injured in Mustang suicide attack

QUETTA: Three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and two others injured in a suicide attack on a check post on Quetta-Karachi Highway in Mastung area of Balochistan, some 60km from the provincial capital, on Monday.
Official sources said that a suicide bomber detonated himself near the FC’s Aziz check post in Khud-Cocha area of Mastung.

“A young man wearing a suicide vest tried to enter the FC check post. As he was challenged by security personnel, he blew himself up near the check post, martyring three FC personnel and injuring two others,” a security official said.

IS Khorasan has claimed responsibility for the attack

World Bank wants Pakistan to accept ‘neutral expert’ in dam dispute

The World Bank has asked Pakistan to stand down from pursuing its stand of referring the Kishanganga dam dispute to the International Court of Arbitration (ICA) and instead accept India’s offer of appointing a “neutral expert”.

World Bank president Jim Yong Kim advised the government to withdraw from its stand of taking the matter to the ICJ

A source privy to the development told Dawn that Pakistan believed that acceding to India’s proposal of referring the dispute to neutral experts or withdrawing from its stand would mean closing the doors of arbitration and surrendering its right of raising disputes before international courts.

Pakistan believes that on the one hand the World Bank has tied its hands from raising the dispute at the ICA, and on the other, it has not blocked the Indian effort to complete the construction of the dam.

The World Bank did not even heed to Pakistan’s concern when provided with satellite images during a number meetings with the bank that India was constructing the dam. The bank even denied Pakistan the opportunity to stay the construction of the dam.

The World Bank even declined Pakistan’s forceful plea on May 22, 2018, asking it to express concern by stating that it had “noted the inauguration of the Kishanganga Dam by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, the source added.

Can you comment on the significance of this ? How does it fare vis a vis our frigates ?
@randomradio ; @safriz ;

Target practice.

The PN is a peacetime navy. These ships will help patrol their EEZ when there's no war with India. But during a shooting war, they will go back into their harbours where they will be safe. Even if they sink, they can be floated up since the depth there is very low, unless the damage is too much, then they can scrap the ships.

KARACHI:

Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased 0.08% on a weekly basis, snapping a four-week spell of decline, according to data released by the central bank on Thursday.
The country’s foreign exchange reserves had been on a downward spiral for weeks and had depleted significantly, sparking concern over Pakistan’s ability to meet future payment obligations and manage a bulging current account deficit.

On June 1, foreign currency reserves held by the central bank were recorded at $10,041.6 million, up $7.8 million or 0.08% compared with $10,033.8 million in the previous week.

Overall, liquid foreign reserves held by the country, including net reserves held by banks other than the SBP, stood at $16,419.6 million. Net reserves held by banks amounted to $6,378 million.

With the end of PML-N’s term, SBP’s reserves stand at just $10.03b

In April, SBP’s reserves increased $593 million due to official inflows. Pakistan also raised $2.5 billion in November 2017 by floating dollar-denominated bonds in the international market in a bid to shore up official reserves.

A few months ago, foreign currency reserves surged due to official inflows including $622 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and $106 million from the World Bank.

Earlier, the SBP received $350 million under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF). In January, the SBP made a $500-million loan repayment to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), China.

Leave, How does it fare vis a vis our frigates ?
I am thinking how Pakistan will be paying for these as their forex reserves has gone down below 10 billion dollars and soon they will be begging for IMF bailouts and I have never seen IMF giving money to buy weapons.

Or are they planning to becoming HIRA MANDI or BANGCOCK for all Chinese population to pay for these frigates and cpec..,😁😁😁😁

They spend too much on defence, unlike BD.

They spend too much on defence, unlike BD.

It is not just Defence expenditure

My theory after years of observation is that
Politicians and Bureaucrats Hate the power ; Authority
immunity and impunity of the Pak Army and ISI

The Military makes money and takes decisions
regarding Pakistan's future
and Nobody dares to say a word against them

So the civilians vent out their frustration by corruption and mismanagement

Same is the case with the Private sector Business people

In the end nobody gives a damn about the civilians who are told that every thing wrong in Pakistan is due to India; USA ; Afghans ; Israelis

And that the civilians must endure all hardships for Islam
Pakistanis are fu**ed up Psychologically

The clergy and Religious class have devised their own ways of staying relevant and also making money

Recently the Judiciary has become Important and Active because
the Pak Army is using it to weed out people whom they dont like

Pakistan is decaying Internally due to its own mistakes

@randomradio You must have seen on PDF how Pakistanis are obsessed with all kinds of weapons and Kashmir

And they dont give a damn about their economy and society

That is what the decades of Anti India hatred has done to their minds

The Punjabis are ruling by fear

But Slowly Sindhis ; Shias ; Pathans ; Baloch and Muhajirs are rising against the Punjabi tyranny
