One thing I would like to put out here is that... since Iran and Russia are hostile to the US, Pakistan is the only country through which US can exert some influence in Central Asia... So, US will never abandon Pakistan... (Even if India captured Gilgit baltistan and bordered wakhan corridor, US would still prefer Pakistan to project power in Central Asia, because India is too big and powerful for its comfort... Just like US preferred to partner with Kurdish rebels instead of Turkey in Syria )
But, this was a fine pre-emptive strike by Modi... In essence it meant, that if America does not give a damn about Indian interests in Jammu Kashmir... India does not give a damn about American interests in Afghanistan.. Also, the timing was impeccable. Trump is really neck deep with the Iran crisis, and there is also the tangle with China and North Korea...

I think the awam isn't foolish enough to believe ISPR drivel that they function at the pleasure of the PM. This is the experience they've gathered over 7 decades.
