Nobody believes HAL and ADA on any particular date on LCA MK2 ...after all these delays of HAL LCA MK1A. We will wait and watch to see when it's constructed. HAL should at least publish some images of the jigs if they have already started the assembling. I don't think we can make any predictions at this time because we don't have any HAL images of LCA MK2.
At the least place that second batch order of 97 Mk1A.
I was optimistic of Mk2 catching up to second batch of Mk1A... Seems too naive.
India’s Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is targeting the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026 for the first flight of the new Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) Tejas Mk2 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). Speaking with FlightGlobal at the Aero India air show in Bengaluru, LCA Mk2 Project Director V. Madhusudana Rao says construction of the first prototype is underway, and that over 55% of the required parts have been manufactured.
The first prototype’s wings and forward fuselage are almost ready, with activities related to the manufacture of the centre fuselage already completed and production of the rear fuselage to commence shortly.
Rao says the ADA has six F414 INS-6 engines, which have been modified and qualified for use on prototype aircraft. He notes the complete propulsion system was integrated and tested on a ground testbed for the first time in January.

- Fabrication of 70 percent of all airframe assemblies have been completed.
- Rest 30 per assemblies will be built by June.
- Aircraft equipping will start in June.
- Certification of almost all Mk2 LRU have been completed.

➡️ It will have its first flight in the first quarter of next year
➡️ Engine run is planned 3 months before the first flight
It usually takes 10-12 months from completion of fabrication to the first flight of the first prototype. Do not expect the first flight to occur this year.
I will say don't expect anything unless you see the product roll out these people have 100% reputation of making things delays. Let's wait and watch; hope they prove everyone wrong, and AMCA is also getting ready in 2028.

Today every news says roll out this year end .
We ll celebrate milestones only after reaching it.. no expectations ..no disappointments..
You do not have to trust or take any tentative timeline as set in stone. The only concrete part is when the Govt approved and cleared the fund for the project. From that point in time onward you start counting.
There won’t be any Roll out ceremony of Tejas mk2 in order to save time.

AK is asking in all possible ways for any chance of missing deadline..
The airframe is a modification of one that's already in production, it doesn't have to go through all the pre-flight ground testing that new designs go through.
Initially I thought roll out simply 1 day coconut breaking function...
On second thought, if systems are not ready, they ll have to use fillers for the roll out.. which may take time & efforts.
AK wanted to know when will public get to see the aircraft, but chief answered about induction time..
It's bigger modification than JAS Gripen C/D to NG .. let's hope 3-4 years they ll certify atleast limited basic capabilities.
Gripen C/D to Demo was a much bigger modification because they redesigned and moved the landing gear after modifying the fuselage a bit.
And ours is even easier to flight test, because we had separated the mission computer from DFCC right from the beginning, whereas C/D to NG transition required splitting the two, and significantly reworking the FBW. Plus while the airframe was ready, they had to wait for avionics to finish development, while our avionics are all ready for production.
And then Saab made a demonstrator called Gripen Demo before starting work on the NG. We switched straight to creating LSP models as prototypes.
So we need only 3 years to fully validate the aircraft before production begins.
This is such a joke mk2 should have atleast have had a first flight by now. The plaaf has 600 j-10's. How are we supposed to compete
