LCA Tejas Mk1 & Mk1A - News and discussions

your optimism - thats all I need in my life.

You mean his fantasy. 😅 A fighter with limited flight performance, limited weapon load capability, limited EW capability and possibly not even a gun is suppose to be the 2nd best A2A fighter in IAFs fleet??? India is doomed

Air HQ expressed its views in March 1989 that the aircraft being developed by ADA would be deficient. IN 1989. before the funds were released in 1991. then why build it?

Because just as IN later, the primary goal of LCA / NLCA programmes were, to build up indigenous infrastructure, as well as design and development experience. Also both started out with TDs for that reason too, while both would have met the operational requirements only in the MK2 version.

IAF was generous enough to make multiple concessions in all areas, to keep the programme alive, while IN rejected it, but ADAs failure to meet even basics, is what is hampering with LCA, from the start till today.

HAL’s 83 LCA Tejas proposal non-compliant with tender requirements, IAF to take matter to Defence Ministry – Indian Defence Research Wing

@randomradio

Here is a Dose of Reality for you

HAL is going to screw up the MK 1 A also

How is flight performance limited ?
Str , itr or AoA ?

This was already well-known, that the LCA doesn't have the endurance necessary. Basic range is a little bit higher than the Mig-29A and the Bison. Ferry range depends on how much fuel is allowed with weapons.

The cost is a worrying factor.

Need to develop conformal fuel tanks ?

And any plans for such ?

@randomradio.

Do we have a Plan B in case MK 1 A project is a failure

MK 2 is very far away

The complete Radio Silence , Not even Random bits of information by ADA on the MK 1 A is simply disappointing to say the least ( Pun unintended 😂 )

If Modi does not come back in May
Tejas MK 1 A is Finished

Congress has said it will get HAL to make Rafales

So IAF happy , HAL very happy since it gets a big cash cow for 20 years

ADA can go back to making paper planes like AMCA

Anyway with massive spending on things like Farm loan waivers , there will be No
Money for Tejas and AMCA

Mk1A is the Plan B. :p

But more Rafales will become more important.

The IAF's demand for greater endurance is quite unreasonable though. It still has way more than the Mig-21 and Mig-29S, and the LCA is capable of taking over their duties, which will free up the Mig-29UPG for more important missions.

In this case (HAL producing Rafale), what about Reliance? some sub assemblies for HAL ?

I'm looking forward to the air show in Malaysia, hopefully JF-17 and LCA go head to head.

More than Malaysia , it is Aero India 2019
Which will tell us about the prospects of
MK 1 A

Whether it was And Whether it is Feasible and Doable , they must come out with progress report

Or did ADA and HAL took us for a ride

MK 1 A was sanctioned in 2016 , three years later there should be some definitive progress

If Congress wins , Dassault would be asked to break up with Reliance

And Dassault would also be told to hammer out a Joint Venture with HAL, for making more Rafales in India

Dassault can easily ask and get Management Control in a JV

There has been progress. The IAF's main problem is just HAL's cost and delivery schedule, not the aircraft itself.
