Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning and F-22 'Raptor' : News & Discussion

Lol. Can't shoot what you can't see, cha-cha.
Su-57 has OLS-50 which is QWIP based next gen IRST. It'll track F-35 from quite a distance. Plus don't forget the wing/LEVCON mounted L-Band AESA radars combined with its own 3 primary X-Band AESA radars and Su-57 has more chance of detecting and destroying F-35 than vice-versa.

I had a feeling this was happening

But how the hell does Singapore have this info?
wrong image showing AN/AAQ 40 EOTS shared by the turk guy,
AN/AAQ 37 DAS has been designed as MAWS primarily as said here and AN/AAQ 37 EOTS is used to send targeting data to NATO countries probably:

and has demonstrated the same more than a decade back:
During a test flight conducted earlier in 2010, the sensors detected a two-stage target missile from a distance of 1,300 kilometers (800 miles). “DAS is an omni-directional infrared system that can simultaneously detect and track aircraft and missiles in every direction, with no practical limit on the number of targets it can track. DAS truly revolutionizes the way we think about situational awareness,” said Dave Bouchard, program director for F-35 sensors at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector. “In recent testing, DAS has proven to have applications and capabilities beyond its initial requirements for the F-35, including ballistic missile detection and tracking, and counter-rocket, artillery and mortar (C-RAM) capabilities.”

Although Lockheed-Martin is maintaining its target of delivering the first F-35 in TR3 configuration around July 2024, "there is uncertainty about the delivery of the next F-35A. [...] I have asked the armed forces to examine initiatives that could compensate for this possible delay", announced Troels Lund Poulsen, the Danish Minister of Defense, in a press release issued on March 12.

Among the solutions considered, the simplest would be to temporarily bring to Denmark some of the six F-35s currently assigned to Luke Air Force Base [Arizona]. But this would require Flyvevåbnet pilots to be able to continue their training with the support of "other countries", says the Danish ministry.

It also suggests the possibility of "purchasing or borrowing F-35s from other countries already equipped with this aircraft". This is a clear appeal to the United States, which is the only country capable of satisfying such a demand. Finally, there is also mention of an "adjustment of political milestones" concerning the F-35, which seems quite abstruse.

"I have asked the armed forces to prepare a number of proposals that could form the basis of an overall solution that we could discuss and decide on within the conciliation circle. The F-35 fighter jets represent a major investment for Denmark. They will be important for our defense and security for many years to come. It is crucial that we follow this matter closely", insisted the Danish Defense Minister.

Full-rate production begins after producing 1000 aircraft. American military procurement is build different.
Our babus think like modern families. we will buy grocery every week. US MIC thinks like our grandparents. Buy 1 year worth of grocery to get best rates.

External pods would somewhat compromise stealth specially from side. AIRST proves how much IRST has become important in modern battlespace even for VLO fighters.

I'm still a bit puzzled why the aim-260 is still visually classified if it looks and is the size of an aim-120.

Maybe it doesn't exist and they are B-essing us. lol.

AIM-120D3 may have the range but not end game kinematics of PL-15 or Meteor. It's just not always about range. AIM-260 JATM is American reply to PL-15 and likes and I don't think they wan't to reveal its design to the Chinese so early.

It's not the design/exterior look that gives away the aim-260 its long range secret but its fuel and seeker. That is why it is weird that they don't visually reveal the missile. They bloody reveal the shape of the B-21 and NGAD fighter before they fly but not the missile.

You, can't hide aircraft flying above peoples head with smart phones and all around near AFBs, but missile carried inside IWB, you can hide well, that is why iirc they are building specialized hangars with more security to store aim-260, plus you are right, its dimensions should be in ballpark of aim-120 amraam, since it has to go into IWB of f-22, f-35, but the seeker is said to be dual mode(IIR & radar) they want to hide the packaging optimization they did??

New AIM-260 Missiles Are So Secretive They Will Require A Custom Storage Bunker At Hill AFB

Need some patience, brah. It'll be revealed in due time.

They revealed the shape of the B-21 years before it was disclosed publicly. Northrup commercials shows the B-21 and their NGAD fighter.

Duel seekers have been around for years the USN had them on their SM-2's

Right now US 4th gen fighters could be carrying AAM with much longer range than aim120d in the AMRAAM-ER and ESSM blk-2 missiles but logic for the MIC is nonexistent. F-35 and F-22 better be able to carry six internal aim-260's or it was just a waste of money when you have the aim-120-ER and ESSM blk2.

NO I WANNA SEE IT NOW!!!
