Gripen E is the most overrated plane on the market.

It isn't cheap or light. They blatantly lie on their maintenance costs.

Let's think for a second. This is a plane that hasn't sold at all except Brazil that probably can't afford it. The Gripen probably would have lost anyways without the NSA scandal.

You can add for all US planes, as good qualities, the diversity of the weaponry.

Agreed. But when it comes to India, we will end up installing a diverse inventory of weapons as well, including long range missiles as well as supersonic ones. So the weapons mix will be from the country we buy from, India and Israel.

You can add, for Rafale : as good quality the Spectra electronic system.

I set the Rafale apart from other aircraft with the words "Very, very good avionics".

as bad quality, the lack of a dedicated anti radar missile, and the low diversity of weaponry so far.

Not a problem for us.

My posts were India specific.

You just have to treat the Gripen E as the single engine jet it really is.

With the LCA's success, it's lost its meaning in India.

Is there an actual new development or is this just a rehash? D-day implies something big is going on. Is there a related article?

No article. I am the source.

I had already confirmed in the past that F-16 deal had been finalisd and now the combo deal to include F-35 is in progress.

Also, India has committed to sign all pending foundational agreements by this summer.

US has committed to make India a member of NSG this year.

All that is left now is the execution.

NSG plenary meeting starts today.

Do you have any track record to verify or at least substantiate your claims?

If this is true, I'll send you a bottle of scotch. Macallan

If his claims don't check out send the bottle to me instead.

Russia proposes to sell 21 used, cheap MiG-29s, India wary of hidden costs

Anyway, this is a Russian offer.

It's like the French offer of donating some of their used Jaguars to the IAF.

Interesting. Not sure how much of an impact 1 squadron of MiG's would have though. Might make sense to shop around for used MiG's and Mirage 2000's from other countries that are retiring them. Would be a cost effective way to avoid a totally alarming drop in squadrons until planes like the Rafale and Tejas start arriving in big numbers.

The Super Hornet Block III will be equipped with 120KN engines and have CFTs with 13000 liters of fuel.

The range boost on the SH is as much as 1100Km with just the CFTs.

Advanced Shornet is our best bet. Affordable and capable and quickly deliverable. Might be able to get ToT on GE-414.

We can then replace FGFA with F-35. It's the simple geopolitical realities of our time.

PS: Block III is not getting the new engine.

That's interesting. But don't you think you need all that space for the fuel transfer pod itself?
No. I have one centerline pod behind the main bay which will be used to attach the Litening pod and buddy AAR pod. This station is nearly at same place as the gun pod on F-35. In the normal course of flight, the D/Ts and wing tanks will transfer fuel to fuselage collector tank which supplies fuel to the engine. The fuel transfer system will transfer fuel from inner D/Ts to front wing tank to this main bay tank. The mid pylon D/Ts will transfer the fuel to rear wing tank to main bay tank. A butterfly valve will create the cross over fro fuel to be diverted to main bay tank or the fuselage collector tank to be fed to the engine. So when the aircraft is in normal flight, this butterfly valve will unify the complete fuel system and all the fuel will be used for the aircraft. But one you install the main bay tank and convert the aircraft to tanker role, a pilot actuated switch in cockpit will operate this butterfly valve and create the fuel system cross over from engine to main bay tank.

In MSA this pod is further aft and so I have problem with the length of the pod. Anything more than 3m will reduce the tail clearance angle of the aircraft and make it unfit for operations from STOBAR deck.
