Why did they even bother uploading their requirement as RFI ? Its very clear that IAF wants Rafale without any doubt.

Very possible scenario after this RFI, in fact the result is as below :
1). Rafale vs EFT again in the final, this time Dassault will quote $ 25-30 million less than EFT as they don't have to charge for customization, maintenance or negotiations with Indian partner, DRAL is already laughing at other competitors.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

F-16, Gripen E & EFT are like :cry:. I'll not be surprised if they don't respond to this RFI. That will make the process easy and fast.

Like I said. Procedures over common sense.

And this govt loves to proclaim they are not afraid of taking bold decisions.....
What can you do when gullible Indians can be fooled by some imaginary scams?? Look how Congress brings up Rafale issue time to time and there are enough people who don't understand a thing about fighter jets, but believe " Daal mein kuch kala hey" !!

The final official indian answer for the winner is waiting for 2018 ?

Nope, it will be after the first component cutting of 36th Rafale in France. :ROFLMAO:

They'll do the formality of announcing the winner.

"This is Match Fixing by Modi and Dhanoa"

It s a challenge to other players whether they can beat the Rafale offer.

If I am the other player what will be my counter Offer ?

It's worth noting that "Buy F16 or F18 and you get access to 5th gen" talk comes exactly at the moment when RFI is released.

@PARIKRAMA @Abingdonboy What will be the procedure from hereon? Say if 3-4 players respond, will a IAF test team validate their claims first , and then a RFQ will be sent, then choosing the L-1 and then negotiations???

Untill and unless i am either Eurofighter Consortium or Russian, i don't stand a chance, forget about capabilities comparison. The operation requirements alone will keep gripen , f16 and f18 out.

Since India opted for this inefficient route, practically how soon India can start receiving these fighters ?
@Milspec @Abingdonboy @Aashish @vstol Jockey

@randomradio Bhai sahab, aap mat bolna. You are too optimist :p!!
French can deliver it far ahead of schedule as they took a very wise decision to create a ecosystem of vendors in India without waiting for this RFI. Any wiseman will know that IAF & IN needs fighters as of yesterday and they need them in really large numbers.
US fighters like F-16/18 have already been shot out of this competition by US govt due to that stupid act of US which imposes sanctions on any state which buys military products from Russia. I am one of the happiest persons on this planet after reading about that act. I have always been opposed to US weapons in Indian Armed Forces as they are as good as junk in case of war. Why buy a weapon which you can't use in war? Weapons are not for display purposes but for fighting battles.
I am sure we all have heard that very old Indian proverb, "Shikaar kay time kutiya hagaai".

What you guys aren't doing is factoring in the - what if ?

If the RFI is lopsided in favour of one party , how many would qualify for the RFP and what lies beyond the RFP ?Besides , why would the other vendors bother to respond or having responded come up with an RFP , if invited .

What happens if we're saddled with one bidder? Will the GoI proceed with due process or will we see another tiresome saga unfold .

I believe the current RFI is primarily to play to the gallery and embellish the credentials of the present dispensation i.e to prove to the people that they're incorruptible. Nothing else can explain why they didn't opt for a GtG agreement with France .

f this US administration could make us sign COMCASA and their parliament approval to share critical tech (Longshot), F-16 is still a possibility.

India is planning to sign COMCASA shortly. Indian PMO/NSA has been aggressively pushing to complete the pending foundational agreements this year. Expectation is that the agreements would be sign by summer of 2018.

I don't think Americans will throw in the towel so early. After all they have nothing to loose. F-16 line is anyway going to close and there is no harm in giving it a try. Do you remember even after Rafale won the tender, how SAAB and Euro fighter continued they ad/political campaign? So in spite of clear cut match fixing, there will be a fight (Hopefully).
In case it leads to a single vendor scenario, GoI will have to go for a GTG deal.

Just to F with Pakistan, MoD should have sent a RFI to CAC for J10. that would be so funny.

Boeing, LM, SAAB etc have a responsibility to their shareholders to respond even if there is only a 1% chance of them getting the deal.

On the same day that the IAF releases this RFI, the IAF’s Chief is singing the praises of the Rafale and calling it a “strategic deterrent” (can anyone imagine him saying that about the F-16/Gripen, couldn’t even say that about the F-18 that the Americans won’t allow India to mate with nukes)

Rafale Provides the IAF Strategic Deterrence Against Our Adversaries: Air Chief

Don’t see how this could be anymore of a waste of time for the likes of SAAB/LM/BOEING.

+ @Bon Plan is this tantamount to an official confirmation that IAF’s Rafales have been optimised for the nuclear strike role?
