Chalu aakhiri chal ki baazi chod virackti rachau mai

RIP Atal Ji.
Pretty reliable .The late VINOD MEHTA is an original voice . He wasn't a scandal monger nor did he peddle lies. He could be sensationalist or given to a bit of exaggeration . But with no agenda save the truth . A worthy adversary & a very intelligent man unlike media crooks like Burkha Dutt , Rubbish Kumar , Rajdeep & Sagarika - Tweedledee & Tweedledum ( Rajdeep , Burkha & Sagarika are genuine dumbfucks - I really can't find any other word in my limited lexicon to describe them ) or even that loudmouth Arnab or the sexual pervert Tarun Tejpal.How reliable is all this? I'd never heard anything like this before.

He had something these creeps lack sorely - integrity .
It's a bit difficult to generalise . VINOD MEHTA was an anti establishment person , though reasonably honest and dedicated to the cause of truth . Of course , all this is subjective . He didn't like the Congress but abhorred the Sangh / JS / BJP. Having said that he wasn't blinded by his hatred like the left / liberal cabal today plus the Gandhi family loyalists in the media who've certainly profited by virtue of association with the Gandhis apart from a shared antipathy towards the Sangh and it's various Constituents. He was also great friends with Pakistani journalists / activists like Asma Jehangir / Najam Sethi etc .An interesting thread I came across on twitter; thoughts?

An adversarial relationship with the government of the day is what's recommended in a healthy mature democracy . Having said that , one expects maturity from either parties that this adversarial relationship doesn't turn inimical . VINOD MEHTA , N RAM , Ramnath Goenka / Arun Shourie are some names that come to mind among a handful who trudged that lonely path . The latter two & N Ram gave RAJIV Gandhi hell for Bofors and various other scams during his tenure virtually demolishing his image of Mr. Clean .That wss a different era . The press wasn't as heavily commercialised as it is today . That we don't hear and see much scams occur doesn't mean it isn't happening . Just that the media has been bought out . Nor am I making the case that the past was clean and full of virtuous people . Just that there were individuals and certain press groups who had the gumption to take on powerful politicians and didn't regret paying the price .
The Vajpayee era wasn't clean by any standards . Apart from the infamous troika in the PMO , there was PRAMOD Mahajan conducting his own under the table affairs among others . That doesn't mean Vajpayee had his hands tainted but he certainly was aware of what was going on . And that can't absolve him of associated guilt.
I'd posted an excerpt from Saba Naqvi's book in the Political thread . That should give you and idea of how murky Indian politics can be , particularly w.r.t those in charge of raising funds .
@Guynextdoor
I've rarely seen you contribute positively to this or any other blog. Don't waste the oxygen you breathe which another person can utilise productively.
You can start by posting obituaries of people of worth. That shouldn't be much effort
P. S - trust you got my alert and message.
I certainly won't reciprocate the compliment, nor and I'm sure of this , will anyone here. Sincerely hope your parish doesn't conclude the way we do. RIP in advance.If you die, I will be the first person to post it here and pay homage.

Hence RIP in advance, Down's syndrome afflicted.I don't think dead dudes can reciprocrate complements like obituary
Another warrior quietly left this world, RIP Major Gen Sir. It's so sad that none of the mainstream media bothered to report it.
