Off-Topic Chit-Chat

Our senior commanders are best compared to the British Army of WW2. The British managed to change, learning from their experiences facing the vastly superior German office corps. Now the Indian army is more british than the British themselves. Incompetent at nearly everything except bureaucracy.

Here's a hilarious take on Gilbert's & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance filmed on the then hapless labour part leader Neil Kinnock ( 1980's) from the much loved & popular satirical TV series Spitting Image. Sort of mirrors RaGa today to a T.

There's some good info to be had, but analysis comes from informed viewpoints. Most here (barring maybe 4-5 persons) are amateurs relying on public info, hearsay and second hand sources. Very few members have ever been around military equipment, let alone had military experience or experience in the defence industry and those that do aren't jack-of-all-trades, but have a skills set and knowledge on a limited subject. And fewer are privy to the level of info required to make an informed analysis on even half the topics here. Anyone who posts on everything and every subject with equal authority and confidence realistically knows jacksh*t about any of the subjects they're claiming to speak on.

I was reading over a thread on the submarine Arihant and the amount of wonkery just about made my eyes bleed. I worked for the ASW/Sub-surface warfare division of Kongerberg Maritime as recent as last year. That thread is a very painful read for me as someone who does know the ins and outs of submarine operations and sub-surface warfare. It's hard for civilians to make a rational analysis on something as clandestine as sub-surface operations, and yet we've an entire, ongoing thread on just that with members speaking as though they've both authority on the matter and depth of knowledgeo_O. I made two posts on that thread, neither had to do with the topic. It hurts my head. So I just leave members to think their thoughts and argue their arguments and believe their beliefs, knowing what I know and dropping tidbits when I get around to it.

I like to provide info based on my experiences in the armed services and defence industry. The problem for me is that I have to feel motivated to post, and even more so to post anything in-depth or of value beyond pictures. I used to quite often on other forums, and for those that know me from other places, know I've shared a fair bit of info you wont find in public places, but now I largely just don't have the time or motivation to do anything substantial. I don't like or value circular discussions or chronic stubbornness.

But there's quality to be had here too. And no new member should feel intimidated about posting what they know. Members just shouldn't play themselves off as experts on everything when they're novices in all. And that's the root problem this forum has. Too many "experts".

Just do what I do - post info, but don't respond to queries or reply unless you feel like it or find it worthwhile. There's no reason to leave or get frustrated, just do what you can when you want to. You don't have to respond to anyone or debate or argue. Just post your views and be on with your day. Pick and chose what and when you want to post.

90% of what I've posted on this forum is on one singular thread:

Norwegian Armed Forces

Sometimes I post on other threads, but I don't often respond to replies, or even have reply alerts activated in my account controls (so I'm not bothered with notifications that someone replied to me), unless I really want to or feel up to it. I do at times read replies, and reply to some, but not always. Sometimes it's fine to just post and leave for the day. Less stressful that way.

I rarely have the interest in a long, rambling argument with someone on the internet. Just post some pictures and come back in a few days to do the same.

Various info I came across long time back lead me to the impression that factory fresh torpedoes are not deployed operationally in a submarine . They are first fired from a surface based testing platform and then the torpedo is recovered , and if everything went well then only the torpedo is sent to the submarine for deployment .

Is it true ?

Untrue.

I get what you are saying.

This forum is richer cos of servicemen and women like you taking their time out and feeding information which would otherwise be rare. Your posts are thorough, factual and are encyclopaedic with attached images. What more can one ask for and thank you for that!

You mostly post on military matters and your views cannot be refuted, for obvious reasons. However even on topics other than military, two adults cannot have a discussion here before class monitor jumps in moving posts or closing threads. How do you attract talent with that kinda attitude? Its childish.

IIRC a couple of folks I followed and interacted with have left the forum and that's why I totally agree with the following

Just post your views and be on with your day. Pick and chose what and when you want to post.

Frankly this place is held back due to its mediocre staff and nothing else and this annoys me no end. You btw don't stop posting please. At least out understanding of Norwegian armed forces will be better by the end of this all.

Ameit's videos seem to be getting more complex apart from being instructive , Eshwin. He's also got more than 1.33 lakh subsribers - all in the last 2 years & between 50 - 100 k views per episode in a month. I hope you realize what it means. Yes you're right. I'm told it's 5 - 10k INR per month per episode. Multiply that by 30 . To think you'd be earning that much every month. Well, that wasn't to be. Eat your heart out . Muhahaha

Is Bharat Rakshak still operating? and how do you get past all email restrictions in the site. It says you can’t use any major email companies if you want sign up for a account.
You need to have a paid email account and human sounding name, read there policies. I used my company's email and it worked. This was long-long time ago .

Fine with good wishes of friends like you. I had some critical health issue. Heart function was down to 20 percentage. However, it recovered a lot with Ayurvedic medicines like a miracle.
Good to hear that buddy and wish you a complete recovery. Which Ayurvedic medicine did you take-Arjun vriksh kee chaal?

Initially, I took it. However, when I went to vaidya, he stopped everything and gave me suvarna bhasma, jawhar mohra pishti and other Ayurvedic medicines. He allowed only one meal with barley roti and moong and nothing else. I was instructed to take cow milk with same quantity of water boiled to half with sunth whenever I am hungry for next three months. After 3 months, he allowed some khichdi and dal which I take right now. My weight has reduced 10 kg. I am feeling absolutely normal. Now I can see that my muscles are getting stronger. I think vaidya gave me medicines to strengthen my muscles, clean arteries, improve digestion , reduce weight etc together. He asked me to get same report done after 1 month and carry that report with me when I go to take medicine after one month. I get my echo cardiogram done. There was an improvement of 10 to 15 pc in one month from 20 to 25 pc to 35 pc in one month. I will get it checked it again after lock down. Vaidya told me that it is above 40 pc when I see him last time before 3 months. He just checks the nadi and tells how many percentage heart works. When I see him first time, he checked the nadi and told that it is 25 pc only without seeing my report.
