Pakistan AirForce : Updates & Discussions

Good photos.

You are in France?

So you also met the wrestler Badshah khan?

Had gone for the airshow. and clubbed it with a vacation. No idea, who the guy was. The PAF chaps told him to stand while I clicked. And I can tell you he was a little irritated due to that.

Lol..
The twitter expert doesn't know that Zdk-03 Karakorum eagles are not AESA but roto dome PESA.
The Eagles are being assigned to Maritime role because PESA unlike AESA cannot quick shuffle between targets by quickly directing radar beams, and you don't need such capabilities for slow moving naval targets.
A smart military uses their assets as per capabilities and don't spend on unwanted systems.

Also ERIEYE uses NATO standard Link-16 and Eagles use Pakistan's own Link-17.

For that reason Erieye can talk to Western jets such as F-16 easily, but for talking to JF-17 interpolation hardware is required , which adds an extra step.

is 'combat' and 'proven' got a different meaning in Pakistan.
In western countries they call F-35 combat proven after bombing some mud huts in Afghanistan with the 5th generation jets.
In Pakistan we call our JF-17 combat proven after bombing the Reginal military headquarters of a 7 times larger country with a 3 times larger air force.
So our standards are evidently high.

Yet missing it completely.

Nothing surprising. The RD-93MA is as advanced as the engine on our modenrised Mig-29s. Whereas the WS-13 is export-grade crap which the Chinese themselves do not use. The Chinese are going to have to induct this engine in their own forces before they can even think of exporting it when the Russian option exists.

As for Pakistan, it makes sense to use just one engine until MLUs begin anyway.

I don't know if PL-15 is in service in PAF. I'm more inclined to believe the Pakistanis will get only a more advanced PL-12 version instead of the PL-15. Even if they get PL-15, it definitely will be downgraded by a significant amount. But it is about time the PAF gets a more modern missile with the JF-17 Block 3, so we have to wait and see what it is. At the very least, you can be sure that the Block 3 cannot use the full capability of the PL-15 against any aircraft in our inventory except the MKI.

Everything in blue and below is BS (except for point 3). There's no such thing as "RCS range". All the numbers used are wrong. And Indian Rafale will come with IRST.

The Chinese engine manufacturing problems cost us J-10.
The J-10 were to be purchased by PAF starting in 2003. But with the clause that all such jets should have a Chinese engine.
The Chinese failed miserably in manufacturing a home grown engine.
Only in the last two three years they have matured the technology.
And now they are first meeting domestic needs and export will come after.
Also the fact that although they have matured the engine design, the manufacturing techniques are still slow and turnover is very low.
Thats why Pakistan avoided WS-13 at the moment as China cannot provide enough engines quickly.
However JF-17 is designed for being able to swap components and being able to use various manufacturers.
If later the Chinese can maintain a reliable supply line of jet engines, then Thunders can be fitted with Chinese engines.
