Project Kusha / Programme LRSAM / PGLRSAM

Btw, in Dr Reddy Garus cv there was mention of this project , at that time LRSAM and MRSAM nomenclature existed side by side. You can see it was under development as new weapon system. Technical review committee back in early 2022 also had separate scientist member besides the usual In & IAF Kusha. So who knows maybe the 3 missiles in this project are actually 3 separate versions of what was initial concept of ERSAM/XRSAM. You can do a lot of things actually, use dual pulse motors with varied burns rates, propellant, targeting algo, booster combo, different seekers and each would give a new config.

Or IAC is something else and not the Indigenous Aircraft Carriers.

No check the 2nd pic last entry, he mentioned its for carriers. It makes sense, a carrier for us is immense high value asset, possibly more than old arihant money wise. It costs good money , need high maintenance and will house another set of high value item in naval rafales. To protect such a dual value asset you need a larger AD bubble around it on its own irrespective of its escorts. hence perhaps the navy wanted one IAC specific version.

Many past tenders are delayed. Who knows what they are going on about, esp this
Fabrication and Supply of Control Surface and Wing assemblies for M1 Missile
was out in 2023, its extended till July next month. Other lrus related tenders are out regularly though.

DAC recently cleared the procurement of LRSAM under Project Kusha. The development came after the project was approved by CCS. Back in Oct 2023 also reported that MoD cleared 5 units of LR-SAM for rs 21,700 crore

I don't understand why CCS is approving procurement of systems that are in early development. Perhaps it's for developmental approval and estimating possible order numbers that are getting leaked to the press ?. Realistically, Production is at least 5 years away.

Few projects they expedite, like the bmd phases vshorads and this LRSAM now that MRSAM is in post production delivery & support phase gradually.
Certain strategically significant projects progress, we will hear very little about like LR-AShM LRSAM SLCM K. Developing a full missile checkout system much like what Brahmos got is an indicator of progress.

Not really technical development related, but the LRSAM projects actual infra+housing pre-work survey soil testing tender will be awarded soon , now only a matter of L1 declaration. Out of the 10 bids, 3 are rejected & 7 admitted. So hopefully L1 soon and work begins sharp. After this survey, civil planning work will start, then electrical work, specialised building & facility work etc.

though the 3 missile concept has got large, I kinda think its not different rage based, rather its service specific. One for IAF, one for IN and the other is IAC specific tweaked version which definitely needs ASBM ability. Further longer range project can be approved later with multi pulse (3 or more / throttled / online thrust variation) based system concept.

Nah nah.

There are three missiles as all things point to that only. IAF and IN will get their own version of all the 3 missiles.

This missile is essentially a MRSAM+booster, our own version of the Bara-8 ER, correct? Since PGLRSAM isn't ready for testing yet, don't see how it could be a brand new design.

Could it be an adaptation of the Akash-NG+ booster?

We have so many SAMs under development right now, it's hard to tell which is which...

The missile is the same Barak-8 that other ships use, without a booster.
