Without license production & massive numbers it's as good as useless.Report said S-500 more likely ?
License production? With how much Russians will milk us for it may as well speed up BMD Phase 2, Kusha, and AD AH programmes. For anti satellite we already have that capability through PDV and need to focus on soft kill measures such as ground to space lasers, EW and jamming.Without license production & massive numbers it's as good as useless.
I feel we are holding a lollipop to ensure we get what we paid for. Once we get the remaining order, this will be forgotten.Report said S-500 more likely ?

The performance of Su-30MKI, BrahMos & S-400 during the recent conflict has opened the eyes of our decision makers. More MKIs, Su-57s, AL-41Fs, AL-51Fs, Zircon(as BrahMos 2), more S-400s, even S-500s all are coming.I feel we are holding a lollipop to ensure we get what we paid for. Once we get the remaining order, this will be forgotten.

We are getting su-57,s400 and s500. It's a repeat. So we are officially entering the era of S 400 where print media will tell me how we are buying S 400 for the next 3 years? Aww man I'll miss the 5 years of print media telling me how we are buying Su 57 and F 35.
Decision makers don't need proof about whether these system are good or not when we have the forces who can tell how effective they are and whole war with 3 years of data as proof,The performance of Su-30MKI, BrahMos & S-400 during the recent conflict has opened the eyes of our decision makers. The anti-Russia lobby is about to witness a huge meltdown very soon, lol![]()
It's a repeat? I didn't understand what you meant.We are getting su-57,s400 and s500. It's a repeat.
Sometimes they do. There are some sections who exaggerate Western weapons and undermine Russian/Indian ones. This war just proved why Russian, Indian and Indo-Russian jointly developed weapons are the real unsung heroes of IAF. Just read about how IAF treats its M-2000 fleet vis-a-vis its MKI fleet, then you will understand what I am saying. I don't want to say anything more as it will cause lots of heartburn.Decision makers don't need proof about whether these system are good or not when we have the forces who can tell how effective they are and whole war with 3 years of data as proof,
Just wait for some time, then everything that I've said will start to make senseMost of these things don't even make sense: we already bought 12 more MKIs, Su 57 is up in the air but I don't think we'll be buying them but then again who am I, AL 41 is likely but will take 2-3 years for any concrete developments, for now it is also the print media slop which comes out every 3 months, Zircon acquisition/ ToT makes no sense when we have went ahead for pursuing Brahmos 2 ourselves, for now S 400/ S 500 is also the print media slop given how they are writing that we are "considering it" and we already have a program reaching it's testing phase as a better alternative.
The S 400/ S 500 thing makes no sense to me because it's been just 1.5 months since the conflict and anyone who follows defense knows the GoI takes years for making a concrete final decision so, unless I have unlocked multi dimensional travel the GoI isn't gonna suddenly change overnight. We may have had it under discussion since before then I could see such news having some truth to it until then it's another speculation.
It's a repeat? I didn't understand what you meant.
Edit: Before anyone misunderstands by reading just 2 lines of my post, I am not questioning the effectiveness of Russian weapons, I am just trying to say several of these developments go against the very functionality of our government and defence acquisition. I am no expert or insider, I am just an enthusiast who's making conclusions based on how the government has acted in the past.
Have some patience dear friend
And yet you shill for F-35 import from our covert enemy like USA. Hypocrisy eh?I dont know what kind of so called "nationalists" celebrate more and more import from Russia?!
Importing the Su-57 or S-400 is terrible news. It comes at the cost of Indian systems.
These people should examine their conscience regarding their love for Mother Russia rather than their nation.
Why do we need more S-400?@marich01,

Kusha ain't going into production and first unit being delivered before 2030, then Induction, training, setting up etc, kusha will not be fully oprationlised before 2032, and that's only 1st unit of kusha being fully operationalised. Why do we need more S-400?
Kusha with all three versions will enter service in 2028.
Russia is unable to deliver the remaining 2 units on time.
By the time they will deliver the to be ordered 2 squadrons, Kusha will have entered service.
Besides Kusha M3 will have a slightly higher range than S-400.
Kusha is a WIP while S-400 has already demonstrated its prowess by shooting down anything Pak threw at us. In fact, I would have liked IAF to order 5 more regiments but with ToT and Make in India. Anyways, it's not upto us but our decision makers. They know what is good for us and are acting accordingly. Why do we need more S-400?

I dont advocate any weapon import at the cost of Indian systems. And yet you shill for F-35 import from our covert enemy like USA. Hypocrisy eh?
Nah, brother....never! It's always India first. I just support Indo-Russian JVs or direct imports in areas where we are lacking. You'll never see me advocating for imports in area where we've achieved mastery.I dont advocate any weapon import at the cost of Indian systems.
Your love for Mother Russia sometimes overshadows nationalism.
