Nope you can do it without replacing gun. Only penalty Will be low DOP.
T 90 need an upgrade.
Army should spend money on upgrading 1674 T 90S to M standard rather than going for new MBT all together in my opinion for next decade at least. In meantime buy 806 T 90M for 5 billion USD with new gun and ammo ( replacing all T 72 ). Taking grand total the whole strength to 2480 MBT.

That doesn't look correct. It's the T-72's barrel which had an EFC of 250, and was replaced with an Indian barrel by DRDO with an EFC of 1700. The standard Russian barrel for the T-90 came with an EFC of 1200. There is no news of the EFC of the Indian version, or whether it uses the same or more modernised version of barrel made for the T-72.
Original Russian barrels for the T-72 had an EFC of 600, but for exports they kept it cheap in order to bring down the unit cost. It was natural that using more expensive materials and production techniques raised the EFC.
Anyways from the speech of Doval, time of tanks are over... I think that's why it's not given priority.

T-90s can fire their ammunition. OEM barrels have not burst except when using OFB ammo (correct me if I am wrong). the ARDE barrel might be better but it does not mean OEM barrels do not work.
Pak is fielding MBT-2000 derivatives or T-80s (Ukrainians with their gas turbine changed to diesel engine) which make the bulk of their tank forces
T-90s are an even match for them. Tanks alone do not fight now. In a combined arms battlefield scenario you will findT-90s with a good crew can give much more than they get.
Armour will be now at the mercy of atgm's and drones. Whoever achieves air superiority wins anyway on the ground. Nagorno karabakh war pretty much proved that. Azeri with a worse trained military basically won due to Turkish/Israeli drones and EW. I wouldn't mind if we buy some TB2 from the Turks along with their smart munitions..
We also have the type 99a and type 15 of the Chinese. Also the pakistan VT-4 tanks which are equal to type 96 standard with better mobility a superior FCS to our t90's and t72's. While the type 15 can be handled. I have huge doubts on how our armour will survive against type 99a and type 96b. They have superior armour,apfsds and FCS..Asking the Russians to enmasse upgrade our armour to t-90ms standard would solve the problem along with modifying the autoloader and bring it to 2a46m5 standard..
