Besides you can already get better precision from GPS by simply combining it with the other satellite positioning systems, like the Russian GLONASS and the European Galileo. (I wouldn't trust using the Chinese system in military hardware, though!)

Time to improve our capability was in 1990s. When an ATGM missile takes 30 years of development time, I guess we needed to fix it. Nag literally got outdated before it completed user trial just few days back. Democracy and bureaucracy dragging its feet is what is happening.
Nag is good enough for our Western Front & Paxtan's Western Front. If you take out China out of the equation , an Indo Pak war would involve tactics & equipment for the most part , out of the 80's & early 90's of how the Western countries were then. It's not for nothing they're our brother in arms.

BECA doesn't make us dependent on America. It's just an additional source of data. Plus it's two-way. It's basically a mechanism to share geospatial data with each other.
Also with the NAVIC, I don't think India has access to a more accurate navigation system than that. So most Indian targeting will use NAVIC. But in case of a major war, NAVIC can be destroyed, so we have a backup in the GPS.
Also, the drones we are buying from America will mainly have American hardware, so BECA allows the drones to tap into American intelligence, which will be beneficial for "interoperability", which is actually a diplomatic way of saying we want to avoid fratricide during war. I mean, in case either the US and allies or India go to war with China, we need a mechanism that allows either of us to operate in a war zone without shooting at each other.
We need America to be aggressive in both the Middle East and in dealing with the Pak-China nexus. But some people are of the opinion that Biden will make anti-India moves, as Democrats usually do because of their need to maintain good relations with the Muslim world.
Basically, Trump and India are on the same page in many issues that affect India. But not the case with the Democrats. For example, by this time next year, Pak may be out of the FATF if Biden is elected. They may also restart weapons exports to Pak. Simply put, Pak's isolation may end with Biden in power.
Trump’s US is anything but aggressive in ME. Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Afghanistan. there is withdrawal everywhere and even surrender to likes of turkey, Iran and Pakistan . Long time US allies like UAE,Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Armenia,Kurds and Afghan govt is left to fend off themselves by trump.
Obama never did anything against us afaik.
All that trump did was for transactional gain like India buying weapons from them and easing out import restrictions for US companies like HD and FCA. Too bad that these old companies are such an incompetent that they managed to fail even after all these benefits unlike say Koreans and Japs.

Movements like BDS, BLM, ANTIFA and upcoming Boycott France and possibly India too is to weaken the law and order, destroy Internal harmony and international support to US.
US politics has really lost its old charm like that of Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Truman, Bush senior, Obama, Clinton etc.
now you have Hillary, trump, biden, Sanders, komala etc.
Those who have some dignity and talk straight are demonised by left loonies like Tulsi Gabbard etc.
As far as India is concerned, we are living amongst the sea of enemies (except the sea off course ).
So depending on US solely will be suicidal. We have to be ruthless in pursuing our goals like Israel and like our NSA said few days earlier.

From India's perspective, that's good. American withdrawal means the GCC is tied up dealing with those problems instead of creating problems in India. And they are turning the diplomatic squeeze on the problem countries, which is also good for India as these countries are pushed towards India.
Only Afghan is a problem, let's see what happens here.
Yeah, I just hope they don't fall for it.
