This is the worst display of statesmanship I've ever seen. Zelensky probably would've gotten a better reception from Putin in Moscow.
I get the views from both sides.
Trump’s just way too against Zelensky personally. Whatever you think of Zelensky — the guy is literally fighting to keep his country from being taken by Russia. He’s in the middle of a war, so of course he’s passionate. Let’s be real: if the U.S. pulls its support, Putin will eventually take Ukraine. I don’t get how anyone can just shrug that off like, “Oh well, not our problem,” especially given how much we’ve been involved in Ukraine’s affairs before.
That being said..
At some point, Zelensky has to recognize that U.S. support isn’t unlimited. America has its own problems to deal with, and while helping Ukraine was justifiable early on, there’s a limit to how much we can keep pouring in. It’s not about wanting Russia to win—it’s about facing reality. If Ukraine can’t push Russia out completely, then Zelensky needs to start thinking about a peace deal. The idea that the U.S. has to keep funding this war indefinitely just isn’t sustainable, and it’s not America’s job to solve every global conflict.
