Ukraine - Russia Conflict

Lol. Salty that I was right? The moment Russian forces left their staging area of 150-200 miles from Ukraine border to move closer that was the sign an invasion was imminent.

Lol, no, they can always go back. We did that in 2002.

The Chinese did it in 2020 and they still haven't gone back. It's what we call eyeball to eyeball.

Moscow is willing to negotiate terms of surrender with Kiev regarding the ongoing Russian military offensive currently taking place in Ukraine, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

According to Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his preparedness to engage in discussions with his Ukrainian counterpart, with a focus on obtaining a guarantee of neutral status and the promise of no weapons on its territory.

These are terms that, according to Peskov, would enable the achievement of the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, and eliminate what Russia currently views as a threat to the security of its state and people.

“The president formulated his vision of what we would expect from Ukraine in order for the so-called ‘red-line’ problems to be resolved. This is neutral status, and this is a refusal to deploy weapons,” Peskov clarified.

The press secretary added that Putin would determine the timing of the negotiations, but gave assurances that Russia would only engage “if the leadership of Ukraine is ready to talk about it.”

“The operation has its goals – they must be achieved. The president said that all decisions have been made, and the goals will be achieved,”
Peskov continued, suggesting that, if Kiev were to agree to meet the demands, the current military attack on Ukraine could be called off.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, Putin instigated a “special operation” in Ukraine, with the supposed aim of “securing the peace” in the breakaway Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the Donbass region.

The leaders of the republics have made claims in recent days of attacks on their territory by the Ukrainian army.
Throughout the course of Thursday, the operation has become a full-scale assault, with Ukrainian airports, military bases, and cities, including the capital Kiev, all being damaged in air strikes in an attempt by Russia to cripple any Ukrainian military response.

Where are the Armata tanks and other armored vehicles? All I'm seeing is upgraded T72s and they are taking a beating.
They don't need armatas against a lightly armed force of Ukrainians. Plus the armata still hasn't entered mass production. That will only start once India gives an order for the armata for the FRCV tender.

100 Russian paratroopers were trapped in Gostomel after a botched operation to take the airport there. Now Russian armour has reached Gostomel. So the army is right outside Kiev now.

To think Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons after being assured by US and Russia
NATO strategy has gone to hell in a handbasket. 40 years ago these events would have been foreseen and short-range tactical nukes would have already been deployed in Ukraine and Taiwan as a deterrent. China can only be emboldened by this as regards Taiwan or any of its other territorial claims.

A near impossible tight rope walk this . If India manages to avoid being directly sanctioned that'd be some achievement & this Administration would deserve all the applause it gets & more . Indirect effects of sanctions are too myriad to account for .

I just realised the Ukranians elected a comedian as their president. Too bad they didn't realise till quite late in the day , the joke's on them .

Only the US can elect comedians consistently & get the world to pay a price for their choice . Bush , Trump & now Biden. If you're wondering how can they elect comedians so consistently look no further to understand the mental profile of their voters than @WHOHE

What you mean is Putin is using his oldest tanks and forcing Ukrainians to expend modern ATGMs they got in the last few weeks.

Russia has committed but a fraction of its forces. If you follow observers who follow Russian units - most of the guards units have yet to be committed. Putin remembers Grozny and wont repeat those mistakes.

This shit show looks like a rehash of Munich all over.
Now its like Poland 1939 all over. Lots of lip service - zero action on the ground

If not CAATSA the US will make it's displeasure known in some other way. I suspect all future deals apart from the ones already in various stages of execution with Russia would be on the chopping block. It's either indigenous development or shop from the West.

To think just 2 days ago we put on hold a 3 billion USD contract for 30 Predators. Talk about timing.
