Ukraine - Russia Conflict

Japan, the world’s largest importer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), imported over 200% more of the fossil fuel from Russia in August, the Kommersant business daily reported Thursday, citing data from Japan’s finance ministry.

Japan buys two-thirds of its LNG from Australia, Malaysia and Qatar, according to Kommersant. Russia accounts for 9% of Japan’s LNG imports, followed by the United States with 6%.

According to the finance ministry’s customs data, Japan shipped 450,000 metric tons of LNG from Russia last month — a 211.2% increase from August 2021.

Japan’s LNG shipment boost follows Russia’s replacement of the Sakhalin-2 LNG project’s operator with a domestic entity in response to “unfriendly” Western sanctions.

The move sparked uncertainty over the continuity of LNG supplies, though Japanese buyers renewed contracts to buy LNG from Sakhalin-2 after they were guaranteed the same financial terms by the new Russian operating company.

A quick look at the total loss curve according to Oryx (all equipment). The Karkhiv breakthrough caused more Russian equipment losses than the Kiev withdrawal. 600 Russian units in total. The equivalent of 1 1/2 months of fighting. Ukrainian losses seem to be quite stable in comparison.

  • Modi explicitly criticized Russia's war in Ukraine while meeting with Putin on Friday.

Forget abot who is right or not, those who denying the orders from superior or co in battlefield deserve nothing but a head shot.
Depends what the orders were, I mean, they found mass graves in Izium. People at Auschwitz were just following orders too don't forget.

Nope. It's around 15000-20000 dead. 40000-50000 wounded.
That said even 15k-20k dead are huge numbers. I mean massive.
Nah, they have letters stating the amount of compensation the Russian government has paid and they know the amount paid per person, it was almost 50,000 dead in late August. Another 5,000 and they'll have exceeded US casualties during the Vietnam War in the space of 7-8 months.

Ain't it?
Lol. An article from 2007 and I betcha you didn't read the article, huh?

Let me help you get educated a bit "RASALGHUL."

-In the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 18 percent of recruits needed waivers for problems with the law — up from 15 percent the previous year, Maj. Gen. Thomas Bostick, commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, told a Pentagon news conference. He said 87 percent of those were for misdemeanors such as joy riding or violating curfew.

Appearing with him, defense personnel head David S.C. Chu said the waiver policy, taken as a whole, is a tough one and takes into consideration the whole person and his or her future abilities, not just mistakes the person may have made in the past.

One question they are asked, he said, is whether they have ever used marijuana, even once. “If you answer ‘yes’ about one use ... it requires a waiver,” said Chu.

“That’s a pretty tough standard,” he said. “Not to be cheeky about this, but (if) we apply that standard to our legislative overseers, a significant fraction would need waivers to join the United States military.”

Services meet recruiting target
Chu was announcing that the services met their targets for recruiting in fiscal year 2007 — the Army recruited more than 80,400, Marines more than 35,500, Navy more than 37,000 and Air Force nearly 28,000.

The Army has been struggling to increase the size of its force amid an increasingly unpopular war in Iraq.
Various lawmakers and others worry that the Defense Department is lowering standards to draw in the needed recruits.

To continue zee education... these recruits already served their time for petty crime and other misdemeanors and weren't recruited while in probation. Russians are recruiting convicts in prison many of them serving life sentence.

Apples and oranges.

Would love to see that.. I mean 50,000 dead is just indigestible.

Again What makes you think the russians prisoners commited more serious crimes.

Maybe just to tell Putin that he thinks what they're doing is stupid.

Is Modi still PM anyway, I thought that woman had taken over? Ah you have a president and a PM, who leads then?

I've posted them on this thread about 10 pages back, I'll try post them again if I see them on Twitter. The losses are low compared to WWII.

Recruiting some people with spent convictions and recruiting prisoners are two different things. And let's face it, unless you're facing the death penalty or life in prison, you aren't swapping your sentence for deployment to Ukraine.

Russia already failed in Ukraine. Only question is how long will it takes Russia to accept this fact. Why should Modi support an invasion that brought nothing good to Russia/Ukranian or the world? As for India, this war brought us nothing but economic and political challenges.
