I wouldn't be very surprised if US and Russia have already decided that how long this will go on and to what extent. These two countries are superpower rest are just honey-bunnies.

Russia is not a superpower anymore. That's why they feel they were humiliated, thy lost their empire and their global relevance and have trouble accepting it. This is a process of grief that Western European countries have gone through 70 years ago, but for Russia they're doing the Soviet Reversal and do the colonial war to quash the independence movement after their former subjects have obtained independence.
The sooner Russia admits it's now on the same level as France or the UK, instead of being on the same level as China or the USA, the sooner they will be able to get over their imperial nostalgia and find a healthy way to engage with the rest of the world.
