Russian sends several thousand tanks into a foreign country - they're fighting western imperialism.
Europeans make a trade deal or financial arrangement with an African country - it's neo-colonialism.
Russia sends private military contractors to overthrow democracies in Africa - they're fighting neo-colonialism.
In summary, India hates the west and most of their neighbours and hates anyone who doesn't hate them. India likes Russia and hates anyone who doesn't like them?

It was needed, Western European colonialism is well recognised, Russian colonialism isn't. Mostly because Western Europe actually cares, whereas neither the USSR or Russia ever has and it continues with it to this day.

They've already made a deal settling all territorial disputes with Russia, don't kid yourself. This makes it even more likely that Russia will side with China, because doing otherwise could lead to China changing their mind.
