Ukraine - Russia Conflict

But the Leopard and Challenger II barrels are longer, L55s vs L52 for Leclerc and L44 for Abrams and L48 for most T-XXs.
Keep in mind though that newer T-XXs use 125 mm gun, so that is 6000 mm, which is the same as 120 mm L50. On the flip side, they also use two-piece ammunition, which necessitates the use of shorter, stubbier and thus less effective APFSDS / APDS projectiles.

It was proved that L55 vs L52 was of a tiny improvement in shell speed, but more a problem to stabilize the gun.

The gun of Challenger 2 uses shorter sparrows. It is less potent than 120mm NATO AT shells.

Russian MBT had the same problem since ww2 : optronic and optic viewfinder are weak.
Max realistic engagement distance of west MBT is 4km when it is only 2,5 or 3 km for russian ones.

Missile attack on Ukraine: what is currently known:

On the morning of January 26,the Russian Armed Forces attacked Ukraine's military and energy facilities with cruise missiles. The first strikes targeted facilities in Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson, Zaporozhiye, Kharkov and Cherkasy regions at a distance of 100-250 kilometres from the front line.

The Russian Armed Forces then proceeded to hit targets deep within the defence line. At this stage, the strikes targeted the locations of air defence systems and electronic and air reconnaissance stations, as well as AFU aviation based areas.

According to the Military Chronicle, land- and sea-based cruise missiles were launched against targets in the Kiev, Vinnytsia, Nykolayev and Odessa regions.

According to preliminary data, the Kiev hydroelectric power plant in Kiev region was hit. Objects in the Dneprovskyi district of Kiev were also hit.

In the Odessa region, cruise missile strikes knocked out four large substations: Usatove, Mayaki, Malynivske, and the Chumka substation. In some districts of the city and the region, electricity and water supplies were cut off after the substations were hit.

For the third wave of strikes, Lancet borne ammunition was used. The targets of the kamikaze drones in Kharkov region were hangars where the AFU deployed American M777 howitzers, Polish AHS Krab self-propelled units and ammunition for them.

Gun looks pretty stable to me.

Nope. It can also use HESH rounds which are far more devastating against infantry.

A Challenger 1 killed a tank at 5km in Desert Storm, it's still a record today.

That is why he wrote realistic. Freak occurences are not something you can rely on.

Agreed. Hence the usage of ATGMs in Russian tanks.

We're good a freak occurrences though, one of our snipers offed two Taliban machine gunners at over 2700 yards with a .338 LM and a rifle only rated to 1650 yards. ;)
