Removing the price cap will increase prices though, the cap keeps the prices down. With Russia suffering a 2% of GDP deficit in a single quarter, there was a real chance of forcing Russia to end this war, all this does is mess that up and won't do jack shit for inflation.

The war won't end until Russia is out of Ukraine, that's guaranteed, so the quickest way to bring things back to normal is to bring that about sooner rather than later.

Since Europe & the US are so very determined to end the war , how about they cease buying Russian oil from 3rd party sources like India ? Should be easy right . Also helps burnishing your precious credentials as lovers of the free world who'd make whatever sacrifices are deemed necessary in this regard.

Not going to happen Paddington. Ukraine & the west have got to get used to the idea of 38th parallel in Ukraine. The sooner you veer around to the idea the better .

Like i said, it's not showing middle finger, it's just looking out for ourselves.
Europe is guzzling oil from Middle east , primary source for India. If India also bans Russian oil, then fuel prices will be at moon. @BMD.

Wonderful news Paddington. What's the western response going to be like ? Pretend every capital ship needs repairs like the old hag's son in Babcock shipyard ? Hey waitaminute , this is assuming the old hag's son IS pretending to have a breakdown. Which we all know isn't the case .

With the price cap the price would be even lower. It's not like Putin can go elsewhere right now, except to hell.

You don't ban it, you just impose the cap. Russia can either sell you the oil at the capped price, or it can go bankrupt... faster.
