U.S. Reveals Range Goal For Future Air-To-Air Missile | Aviation Week
The U.S. Air Force defined a 1,000-nm (1,150-mi.) range goal for a future air-launched ballistic missile that will be developed with air-to-air and air-to-surface variants, newly released solicitation documents show. The Air Force requested $49.5 million in the fiscal 2027 budget submission to...

Polish plant to build Anduril’s Barracuda cruise missiles
Key Points
  • WZL Nr 2 in Bydgoszcz signed an agreement to assemble and produce Anduril's Barracuda-500M cruise missile in Poland.
  • The deal follows PGZ and Anduril's October 27, 2025 memorandum of understanding on autonomous air systems.
The largest variant in the family, the Barracuda-500, carries a warhead of more than 45 kilograms (99 pounds) out to a range exceeding 926 kilometers (575 miles), and the design can launch from a remarkably wide range of platforms, including multirole fighters like the F-16, F-35, F-15, and F/A-18, as well as bombers, helicopters, and cargo aircraft such as the C-17 and C-130, the latter capable of deploying the missile through a palletized launch system called Rapid Dragon that lets a transport plane drop multiple cruise missiles from its rear cargo ramp rather than requiring a dedicated combat aircraft to carry them.
That flexibility reflects Anduril’s broader design philosophy for the entire Barracuda family, which the company says shares more than 90 percent of its components across the 100, 250, and 500 variants

1000 freaking miles 🤯🤯.

Indian Astra Mk3 has 340km range at 20km altitude with 220kg weight

For 1000 miles ~ 1600km, even without warhead, it "may" even exceed Aim-174 weight.

May be it will have multiple on-off (may be even use liquid fuel as it has better specific impulse) so that it can cover 1000 miles.

Or it will use scramjet engine ?

As even traveling with mach 3, it will take 26 minutes which is too much time even for big slow moving target.

Hypersonic will take less than 15 minutes, even around 10 minutes.

this was considered a surprise? its a bomber ffs.
Actually a bomber(specially stealth) is great for anti-ship. Better than fighter jet in lots of cases

USA traditionally did not rely much on bomber for anti-ship as therw were not much target.

But with rise of china, it was expected to have such utility.

Even ARRW missile has anti-ship role/varient.

You're not thinking out of the box. There was news of a terminal seeker on ARRW Inc.2, so that gives you an idea of how it might be done - ballistic trajectory (near MET), including exo-atmospheric phase, then high manoeuvrability glide to hit AEW plane at M10+.

And we are buying french AASM hammer for almsot 0.45 million USD.

French MIC are biggest scammers in the world and IAF loves being scammed, or they loves importing weapon(Import Air Force).

Astra Mk3 will be available before the new rafale will come, but IAF will still import meteor even with less range, no 2 way data link and no aesa radar.
