After Trump's tweet immediately following the attack, this was the most expected resolution. If there was no loss of American life, and Iranian intent was to just strike the bases without killing anyone, then this is no different than the drone being shot down last year. Loss of some material objects and repairs necessary. A further military response might not be required, but it looks like 'Iran War: The Sanctions Strike Back' is the going to futher destitute the Iranian economy.

The attack on the bases was mainly for their domestic hardliners who would not have been happy with no response. They likely missed densely populated areas intentionally. Preliminary reports suggest this, and with the accuracy displayed in the September oil refinery attacks In Saudi Arabia, we know they have pretty accurate munitions.
It's tough to see what happens from here now. The Iranians will likely sprint for the bomb now, while the US levies new sanctions. We may not have seen the last of this incident.

Feels like Balakot strikes again, you hit a weaker nation in very limited capacity after getting multiple attacks on you as it's impossible to let this go and then being so scared you collaborate and fix a non response with the same enemy. Let them strike you, giving way all the time lying to your own public and facilitating the enemy.
