I agree. But we can't ignore them either. As long as we are dependent on oil and gas supplies, we need to have good relations with all suppliers.

We also need Iran for an alternate access into Russia and Europe. It's required for us to compete with China in gaining access to the European market. There's a pretty good chance China will make massie BRI investments in Iran and practically buy the country.

You aren't considering what we will have when the Iranians will actually improve their economy to the point where they can buy weapons in numbers. Think post 2025.

And no, Europe will not sell Iran weapons, the Americans will make sure of that, and definitely not Sweden. Iran's only choices will be Russia and China.

The only place we can be an exporter is in naval ships and submarines. We have a huge number of shipyards that can sell a lot of ships provided we indigenise all the sub-systems and engine. The middle East Market and African market is huge and untapped..

We have to indigenise a lot of stuff if we want to be a major exporter.

Where I see us as an exporter for DRDO designed products is in the field of weapons, particularly missiles, torpedoes, artillery and PGMs, also sensors, like radars. But it's going to take some time before export clearances come through for advanced weapons and other technologies.

When it comes to ships, it depends on the type. Kamorta class, yes. Kolkata class, unlikely. Submarines are dependent on how the deal is signed, since we do not own the IPR on the SSKs we are working on.

We should work on 122 mm and 300 mm caliber mlrs they will be an extremely cheap and easily exportable system. Most of the big exports by the Chinese are in artillery and armoured. We could very well tap that market which is entirely dominated by the Chinese and Russians for the most part. We need a 2nd tier weapons catalog which can be bought by third world militaries and are entirely indian systems. Even ballistic missiles could be sold like maybe the agni 1 to Afghanistan or Vietnam. We should avoid selling nirbhay or brahmos to any country. Low cost low tech systems should be our focus. Since high tech is entirely dominated by the West...
