USA & Canada : News, Updates & Discussions

Trust the foremost power & oldest democracy in the world to tie itself in knots.

I don't know if you all have kept up with the news here in the US but it got crazy last night. Huge protests turned violent. The statehouse in my city (not even the same state as the where the brutal police execution of Mr. Floyd occured) was broken into and mass looting and arson erupted throughout the city.

Yeah. Like some Indian wisecrack on Twitter commented ( in lieu of Western, particularly US reactions on the Delhi riots) - only third world nations like India have pogroms, the US only has protests.

Good news @BMD . Where you would've to spend 20 billion USD, you're now spending 100 billion USD. The best part is that doesn't make you immune to a nuclear fallout. Remember when TMI occured, there weren't any Chinese N reactors on the scene.
TMI was a long time ago. I doubt the price difference will be anywhere near that large and frankly China's record on health & safety and integrity of late precludes them from such business.

Yeah. The price discovery would be very interesting indeed. However, I'm willing to wager that what ever the Chinese charge the US will for not less than 3-4 times the Chinese. Hence that 20 billion USD was a figure I pulled out of my hat. However, if it indeed is worth 20 billion USD for the Chinese SITC of a N Power station - reactors & all, the US will commission a system for anywhere between 60-80 billion USD or more.

You get a better system Paddy. Look at the bright side. In case of a catastrophic N accident, a veritable Chernobyl, which system's failure would you take pride in perishing to? A cheap Chinese one or an American one?

It's like being a casualty in an accident. A cheap Chinese one or an Aston Martin? Make a wise choice, Paddy.

BTW Reliance Jio is claiming they've indigenously developed all the gear for a 5th Gen network including the software.

What's the cost if the Chinese reactor Chernobyls itself though? Which it is far more likely to do given their callous disregard for Health & Safety.
