Actually Thugee was a tribe which the British Criminalized as born Criminals because they used to ambush the British troops. That is the sole reason many tribes and jatis of people were labeled born criminals and some loyal and who agree to work as sepoys in British army were called Martial races. This all started after the first freedom struggle of 1857
