Or perhaps the single malt you got in anticipation of an English win couldn't be wasted so you did what was to be done, Imbibed the contents bawled your heart out & having got it out of your system came down here to congratulate le francais.

Nothing new here. England's performance over the yrs has sort of steeled their fans & shortened their periods of grief.

By the looks of it, you congratulating le francais also must have a precedent. What's the record like for England vs France matches in the world Cup? Lost all matches to France, eh with the result a solo draw here or there seems almost like a victory.

When the English players diddle the referees object , on the other hand when Maradona diddled the referees allowed it.

So why're Qatar & KSA not in the semis Paddy ? Why're Argentina , France of all nations & Croatia there ? Or is it your contention that the conditions of these nations match that of Qatar ?

Btw England did best when they had a posse of Irish players in their team , at least half a dozen IIRC like in 1966 when they won the WC i.e the world cup .

We'd discuss the WC further once you define offside in soccer for an ordinary man in lay terms (read in non dyslexic terms . Remember that video of you reading in class I shared ? Well let's just say that's not how you want to go about it ) .

Further you may want to look up the term dribbling in soccer in the thesaurus . Hint : it's not what you think it is .

Well Paddy, as things stand it seems likely Argentina would meet France in the finals on Sunday.

Whom would you be supporting? The country whose eternal hero subjected you to the "hand of God" ignominious exit in probably the only world Cup you stood a chance of winning post 1966 or your frenemy from across the Channel?

Most Moroccans in France also have French nationality, so it is natural for them to rejoice no matter who wins the semi-final.

Riots in France are spectacular with burning tyres and throwing of all sorts but almost never result in deaths and very few injuries. It's a kind of theatrics of discontent.
