I have a question WHICH freedom is being curtailed by CAA or NRC? Where do you see government arresting his political opposition leaders? Where do you see them amending constitution illegally as Indira Gandhi did?
BTW, by the same token, by using this protest, obstruction of economy and destruction of public property aren't the protestors themselves doing undemocratic and not to mention illegal activity? If they have so much faith in democracy why cann't they show their democratic power in election? Why to destroy public property, stop all economic activity and punish ordinary citizens?
I don't know any protest in India that was considered legal by the govt of the day its supporters. even the India against corruption protests led by Anna Hazare was deemed to be a RSS sponsored communal agitation. Political leaders are not being arrested, because they have been more or less bystanders in the current protests. However lots of protesters are being arrested just for holding protest placards and drawing protest Rangolis on the street. While violent protests should be condemned, if you look at the anatomy of all violent protests, then generally take place when nthe state makes it a prestige point to not allow any kind of protests. protests appear to have turned violent in BJP run states, because the state was determined to to allow any kind of reasonable protests, whereas non BJP states sought to allow protests to carry on unmolested, even if it was for their own political expedience.
