Active protection system doesn't work against modern slow moving maneuvering drones... Nothing actually working against them lately as we have been seeing in Ukraine , jammers have been countered by fiber optic drones + saturation ambush attacks by fiber optic drones is a massive threat that armoured column will be facing in future if they haven't already.... No warning nothing & even if hard kill measures managed to do the job..... The share number that can be thrown will overwhelm any active protection system....hard to admit though but look like we are back to old style trench warfare.

There are plenty of new C-UAS capabilities available that are meant to defeat saturation attacks from drones. As long as you can stick radars on a tank, you can equip and cue different types of weapons on the drones, both cannons and DEW.

Armored formations will also have off-board protection via autonomous C-UAS vehicles, anti-drone infantry, and swarm drones designed to crash into attack drones.

Larger versions can accompany tanks, acting at longer ranges for area defense from many kilometers away. And smaller versions can be equipped on tanks for self-protection from many meters away.

Yeah, friendly electronics are a worthy loss if such a large swarm comes to attack.

really doubt it can work on large scale, you would need lots of power. Drone also should move steadily in the path of microwave direction. Any change in path then radar has to change its direction. If the drones contain shielding only for control unit then it will take more effort to destroy it. We can certainly kill some unfortunate birds crossing the path. On the contrary lasers deliver more power than microwaves.
 
Small suicide drones have made MBTs almost useless in war. Unless there is a breakthrough in counter-drone tech, the scales are heavily titled against MBTs. Anyone saying otherwise is just selling fairytales about yet-to-be-proven tech.

Large scale armoured thrusts in open fields is just suicide now.
 
Also, this is a justifiable reason to go slow on the new MBT program. Too much time & resources should not be spent on that program.

Instead, a lot of money should be spent on securing independent supply chain for drones. I don't think our babus take supply chain infiltration as a really serious threat. They should. But jab tak ek bar gaand pe laat nahin padti, hamari sarkar ko akal aati kahan hai!!! We have a history of getting surprised.
