Brexit and Future of UK : Discussions

Brexit hurts the British economy, even when it doesn't happen. This April, which was supposed to be the first after the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, will see British car production fall by 40%! Quite simply because the car manufacturers had planned to put their factories on stand-by and their employees on holiday, in the perspective of the catastrophic scenario of the no deal'. The last-minute postponement of the release date did not allow them, with the exception of Bentley, to reverse in time. So there are thousands of employees and chains at a standstill... for nothing. Not to mention that the same situation is likely to recur at the next deadline. A particularly enlightening example of the misdeeds of this endless series on the British economy and the sometimes ubuesque situations it causes.
The cause of that is no definite no deal plan. May should have proposed a definite no deal plan including tariffs and NTBs and a proposal for replacing EU imports from day 1 or at least a long time ago. Whereas, in reality, her only intention and that of Labour was to bureaucratically bungle us into a revocation of Article 50. The only deal Leavers want now is no deal, but the government has rejected no deal, so unless the EU kicks us out, we will bungle on towards Article 50 revocation. No leaver or remainer wants the POS deal the EU has offered and both would rather either no deal of remaining.

Brexit must take place quickly, whatever the cost, and the Union must continue on its way, because without the British, the Union would today be much further away, much stronger, much more united.
But it won't, we're looking at extension after extension and the collapse of Brexit. The long and short of it is that you're stuck with us... unless you kick us out... please.

Germany is exerting strong pressure to prevent Brexit because it'd upset their car sales and the only thing that matters in the entire world to Germany is its trade surpluses. Everything else can go to Hell, they don't care, they figure they'll just sell their cars to Hell and get another trade surplus.

Just proves that Germany, and hence the EU, is worried about no deal. We should have pushed the threat of no deal better. We have a useless government though.

What happened to Macron's insistence on guarantees that Britain wouldn't interfere with the direction of EU politics during the extension? We know who wears the trousers and it isn't France. Macron was described as 'getting on people's nerves within the EU.

Macron enrages EU leaders after opposing long Brexit extension

“We are solving your domestic problems at this point," EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker told Macron, according to one of the officials.

We spend two years trying to solve the internal problems of Great Britain and we can't spend 20 minutes solving those of France?:)

  • So Britain want Brexit, but the parliamentarians don't want to do anything & avoid accountability by making any decision, instead want someone else to fire gun over their shoulder, for them - ie EU to kick them out themselves as they cant decide.
  • EU wants Britain out for easier management of policies and process, believe Britain is a nuisance & counterproductive to a grouping interest. At same time EU don't want to be seen as being hard on Britain who hasn't been given enough time to Britain.
  • Germany from EU, wants to protect its major car market in Britain, and is in favour of them being in EU, till a deal on car exports can be arrived. Deal or prolonging Brexit favours EU.
  • Britain own economy & industries are in a fix in relation to Brexit, and it puts their local industries at a disadvantage the more time Brexit lingers - advantage EU economically, as they dig further deeper in Britain market, filling the void. Uncertainty will further encourage industries to migrate elsewhere for stable/greener pasture & long term plans of growth.
Well, then EU - by not kicking out Britain out of EU, can have its proverbial CAKE AND EAT IT TOO, as Britain is already out of EU decision making for all effective purpose. More EU keeps kicking the can down the road, more better for EU. Either that or Britain except the EU exit deal.

Its a win-win for EU to linger on, Britain will have to make its own decisions.

Probably in 2025 when we discuss Brexit further I might share some more insights.

One more point in addition to above,
Politically till Brexit is not decided, Britain will remain a divided house, it will be politically dysfunctional, unable to effectively govern. And any leadership in power will be a weak one at best, as the debate will continue & no agreement, all parties taking on a more hardline stance against other, sensing imminent blood, and a chance to dethrone.

Britain isn't out of decision making as of this new extension though, hence we have to participate in the elections. The Germans told Macron to shut up basically. Macron thinks he will rule the EU minus the UK, but it is Germany that will once again rule France.

All our problems are external, they come from the EU. As regards 20 minutes, those yellow vest guys have been out for about 20 weeks now.

6 months is just about enough time for us to bring Turkey into the EU before leaving it. Macron and Erdogan will have such fun discussing their world views.

That's okay, we're going to trash it so badly that everyone will leave. Assange even got Ecuador to kick him out with far less.

Ideal chance to screw up the EU.

On a more serious note though, when are the elections, who are the candidates, where are the polling stations, where is my voting card? This is why people say the EU is undemocratic. I get a voting card through before all local and national elections but for some reason the EU election just comes and goes without any information about anything. Democratic my ar5e.

I support No Deal Brexit. Best way to support British Sovereignty.
